USA and China remained unbeaten after Day 3 of the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup 2026 Group Oklahoma City, with the hosts improving to 4-0 following a 9-0, five-inning win over New Zealand and China moving to 3-0 after edging the Netherlands 3-2 in eight innings.

Mexico also made a major move in the standings, sweeping their doubleheader against Brazil and New Zealand to improve to 2-2.

Day 3 saw USA and China maintain their unbeaten records, while Mexico revived their campaign with two wins at Devon Park.

USA closed the day at 4-0 after Karlyn Pickens threw a one-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts in a 9-0, five-inning win over New Zealand.

China improved to 3-0 by edging the Netherlands 3-2 in eight innings, with a walk-off single by Kailin Xi, who was named Player of the Day.

Mexico began the day at 0-2 but climbed to 2-2 after sweeping its doubleheader.

Mexico defeated Brazil 9-2 in six innings before producing a seven-run third inning, highlighted by Sarah Alesandra Coccillos Aguilar’s grand slam, in a 10-3, six-inning victory over New Zealand.

The Netherlands dropped to 2-2 following their extra-inning loss to China, while Brazil fell to 0-3. New Zealand played twice on Day 3 and finished the day at 0-4.

Karlyn Pickens threw a one-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts as USA defeated New Zealand 9-0 in five innings to remain perfect at 4-0 and close Day 3 at Devon Park.

USA took control immediately with three runs in the first inning and added another in the second before breaking the game open with a five-run fifth.

Maya Brady led a 15-hit USA offence, going 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Pickens dominated in the circle, allowing only one hit and no walks over five innings. She struck out 10 of the 16 batters she faced, with Hailey Breakwell recording New Zealand’s only hit.

USA improved to 4-0, while New Zealand fell to 0-4.

China 3-2 Netherlands

China remained unbeaten with a 3-2, eight-inning win over the Netherlands in a tightly contested pitching duel, improving to 3-0 in the Opening Round.

China took a 1-0 lead in the second inning and held the advantage until the fifth, when Britt Vonk hit a two-run home run to put the Netherlands ahead 2-1.

China responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning. Two Dutch defensive errors helped the Asians level the game at 2-2 without recording a hit.

The pitching staffs kept the game tied through seven innings before China scored the decisive run in the bottom of the eighth.

Yinan Chai went the distance for China, allowing two runs on seven hits and five walks while striking out five over eight innings.

The Netherlands were equally strong in the circle. Lisa Hop pitched two hitless innings before Eva Voortman worked the final 5.1 frames, allowing three hits and two runs, both unearned, with seven strikeouts.

China improved to 3-0, while the Netherlands dropped to 2-2.

Mexico 9, Brazil 2

Mexico its their first victory of the tournament with a 9-2, six-inning win over Brazil, using a four-run fifth inning to break open the game.

Mexico took an early 2-0 lead in the first and added two more runs in the second. Brazil responded with one run in each of the second and third innings to cut the deficit to 4-2, but Mexico pulled away with four runs in the fifth before adding another in the sixth.

Mya Perez led Mexico’s 12-hit offence, going 4-for-4 with a triple, four RBIs and a run scored. Alexandra Piña finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, while Sarah Perez went 2-for-4 and scored twice.

Citlalz Gutierrez pitched all six innings for Mexico, allowing two runs on eight hits with no walks and eight strikeouts to earn the win.

Ana Luiza de Souza and Maria Julia Goncalves each collected two hits and scored a run for Brazil, while Gabby Coffey and Beatrice Nakae drove in one run apiece.

Mexico improved to 1-2, while Brazil fell to 0-3.

Mexico 10-3 New Zealand

Mexico completed a Day 3 doubleheader sweep with a 10-3, six-inning victory over New Zealand, improving to 2-2 after beginning the day without a win.

New Zealand opened the scoring in the second inning, but Mexico took control with a seven-run third. Sarah Coccillos delivered the biggest blow with a grand slam, while Mya Perez also drove in two runs during the game.

New Zealand cut the deficit to 7-3 with two runs in the fourth, with Hailey Breakwell driving in both. Mexico then added three runs in the bottom of the sixth to finish the game.

Coccillos finished 1-for-3 with the grand slam and four RBIs. Kayden Henry went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while Alexia Lopez was 3-for-3 with a run. Mexico collected 11 hits overall.

Lindsay Lopez earned the win, allowing three runs, all unearned, on five hits and two walks while striking out seven over four innings. Yanina Treviño pitched two scoreless innings in relief.

New Zealand finished with seven hits, with Breakwell recording two RBIs.

Mexico improved to 2-2, while New Zealand dropped to 0-3.
