Line Drive Softball’s National High School Player of the Week (April 15, 2025)

*** So what’s better than a perfect game if you’re a pitcher?

How about two perfect games—both throw in in the same week?

That’s what outstanding junior pitcher Madi Doty did last week for Grandview (Texas) High as she tossed a pair of perfect games, each with seven K’s.

But that wasn’t all: in the one game of the three she didn’t pitch for the week, Madi went 5-for-6 at the plate with two home runs and seven RBIs!

Madi Doty can hit as well as pitch at a high level.

It’s been that kind of season for the Texas Longhorn verbal, who committed last September (Meet Class of 2026 No. 1 Player & Recent Texas Commit Madi Doty (Sept. 23, 2024).

That same month, the Texan was tabbed as the No. 1 Player in the 2026 Line Drive HOT 100 and in January of this year, Madi was announced as a member of the USA Softball Junior National Team.

This season, her stats have been equally impressive across the board with a 12-1 record on the mound and 133 strikeouts in 18.1 innings pitched. Her ERA for the Grandview High Zebras has been 0.51 and her batting average against just .100.

In addition to last week’s pair of perfect games, Madi has also tossed two no-hitters this Spring.

With the stick, Madi has also dominated by smacking six home runs , driving in 37 runs with a .449 batting average.

“It was definitely a good week last week,” the athlete modestly told Line Drive’s Brentt Eads yesterday.

“I’ve been working really hard and focusing on fine-tuning all my pitches. At lessons with Meagan Denny White, we have been doing more spin work and working on spinning tight.”

My change-up has also been working well this year and I have been able to throw it more this season.”

Two of her games were no-hitters and in one she struck out 20. In total Kaitlyn had 68 K’s and her average K’s per inning last week was an impressive 2.34.

Another big milestone: Kaitlyn surpassed the career 1,000 K’s and is projected to reach the 1,250 strikeout mark before she’s done at the prep level.

Carissa Wenner

*** Carissa Wenner, a junior pitcher/outfielder from Lower Dauphin (Hummelstown, Pa.) High, is a talented two-way threat who was only able to get in one game last week because of rain in Central PA, but it was an impressive one as she struck out 13 in a 7-inning win against her team’s undefeated 6A conference rival (her team is 5A).

Carissa gave up just two hits and a run while knocking in two runs to help her team get the key win, made more impressive when you understand Lower Dauphin was 2-7 versus their opponent over the last five years and given up an average of seven runs per game.

For the season, she has pitched 23 innings over five games and has 27 K’s while hitting .450 so far with a 1.142 OPS.

Camryn Fisher

For the season, Cam is now 3-0 with just one hit and one walk given up in 19 innings while striking out 51 opposing hitters and a 0.00 ERA along with a 0.24 BAA.

This also gives her an amazing stat-line few can match in a prep career: four perfect games and nine no-hitters as a high schooler!

Cam, who was ranked #35 overall for Class of 2025 and the #19 Pitcher by Line Drive Softball, the has been a three-year starter for Newtown Rock Gold – Garvey on the club ball side for Coach Dan Garvey, is a PGF All American Game Regional Finalist, a three-time 1st Team Connecticut All-State Pitcher, and a 1st Team High School All-American.

Hope Gaudio

*** Hope Gaudio, a sophomore infielder from Mansfield, Texas, had a tremendous five-game stretch at the end of March/beginning of April that doesn’t fall into last weeks’ time window, but is well worth noting, nonetheless.

The highly recruited 2027 grad had games where she went 3-for-3, 3-for-3, 2-for-4, 4-for-5 and 3-for-3 for a sizzling .833 batting average, a 0.850 on-base percentage, a 2.111 slugging percentage and a 2.961 OPS.

As part of her video game-like streak, Hope had six home runs, 19 RBIs and didn’t strike out at all.

She plays travel ball with Texas Glory and started at second base all last year for a Glory 16U team.

*** Avery Erlichman, a sophomore first baseman at Bridgewater Raynham Regional High School in Bridgewater, Mass., is a young lefty from the East Coast to keep an eye on.

Here’s a short clip of one of her big hits from last week:

Alyssa, who plays club ball for PA Revolution, is impressive on and off the sports fields; she also wrestles for Kiski Area and is carrying a 3.7 GPA in all Honors classes. What makes those accomplishments even more impressive is that she holds down two jobs, one being a certified lifeguard.
