At the PGF Ultimate Challenge, one of the 18U favorites—the NW Bullets – Campos team—came out of the gate struggling in pool play with a record of 1-2.
The team turned it around, however, and put it all together in bracket competition to go on and win the championship in a thrilling 3-2 win against a strong Firecrackers – Wallace squad.
The winning pitcher in the championship was Maddie Milhorn, the outstanding Oregon-bound pitcher who was ranked in the 2025 Line Drive HOT 100 Top 10 and showed why all weekend.
She was candid when I interviewed her Saturday evening after the last game of the night and talked about what was starting to work for her and what she and the team needed to do (and did) to go on to win the PGF Ultimate Challenge 18U championship, a check for $5,500 to the organization and individual player rings.
And I loved her line: “Pressure is a privilege” and how she took it to heart!
Here’s that interview with the accomplished pitcher:
… and here’s a clip of her throwing her awesome change to get one of her many strikeouts during the weekend:
And, finally, her social media post after the big championship win on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024:
What a great team effort to win the PGF Ultimate challenge in Salinas this weekend! We earned this one and won it for Coach Hall. @PGFnetwork @LineDsoftball @los_stuff @NWBulletsSB pic.twitter.com/E5luULkZPT
