Since our last update of the Master Commit Spreadsheet on Sunday—just three days ago, mind you—we’ve added 94 more commits and it’s a jaw-dropping case of quality AND quantity.

Do the math and that averages out to 31 commits each day (Sunday, Monday and Tuesday), which makes sense because of all the numbers of players that tend to take campus visits over the weekend, tell the coaches while at the school that they are committing and then either share it at that time and come home and release it a day or two later.

What’s funny is we’ve known about many commits who pulled the trigger and verballed during the visit, but we couldn’t say anything until the player got the photos back in her future college’s uniform and released the news on social media, usually the next day or two (Monday or Tuesday)!

So big numbers in the last three days, yes, but let’s talk quality, too, as in difference makers.

Not only did the No. 1 player in the Line Drive Media 2028 HOT 100 commit—pitcher Reagan Eldred to Tennessee—12 others we had in the Top 10 (with ties) also finalized their future college home.

That includes two going to Oklahoma who are in the Top 5—outfielder Kate McCartney (No. 2 overall) and shortstop Gia Ryan (No. 5) and this a week after the Sooners picked up a verbal from outstanding pitcher Sophia Schlader (No. 2).

If you want quality and quantity, the nod goes to Ole Miss which got five recruits include a pair we had in our Top 10 of the 2028 class: outfielder Adair Amsler (No. 8) and pitcher Summer Pence (No. 9).

And quality honors also go to Tennessee, which not only got the No. 1 player in Eldred but a No. 2 player in outfielder Caelyn Campos.

Finally, speaking of No. 2-ranked players, it’s going to be fun to watch what happens in the near future with shortstop/catcher Kylie Holden of Unity – Johnson/VanBoxmeer.

She’s considering Ole Miss (tripped over the weekend), Texas, LSU and Florida, where she’s scheduled to visit this weekend.

Quite the list to choose from!

Today’s player spotlight commit is Ellie Stafford, a 2027 right-handed pitcher and left-handed hitting DH with the Ohio Hawks 2027 National – King/Joseforsky team.

The senior recently announced her commitment to continue her academic and softball career at Newberry College, a NCAA Division II program that plays in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) and is a private college in beautiful Newberry, South Carolina.

Ellie attends Taylor High in Cleves, Ohio, where last spring she went 17-4 with a 1.20 ERA and had 228 strikeouts in 117 innings versus just 17 walks all season. Opposing batters hit just .133 against her.

At the plate, Ellie hit .606 this year with eight home runs and 45 RBIs including six runs driven in a game which she did twice this year. She also holds the Ohio High School Athletic Association record for hitting two home runs in one inning.

The Buckeye State standout is a two-time 1^st Team All-State honoree and a three-time All-District selection. This season she helped Taylor go 21-4 and repeat as District championships while finishing as runners-up in Regionals.

Ellie committed to Newberry head coach Mitch Smith and his staff on September 11^th over the phone during her Senior Sunrise event at school.

We asked her why she chose the Wolves and here’s what she had to say:

“What stood out to me most about Newberry was how comfortable I felt with the coaches, the team, and the campus.”

“From the beginning, I felt like the coaching staff genuinely believed in me and saw how I could contribute to the program. I also really liked that they value me as more than just a pitcher and are giving me the opportunity to continue hitting as well.

“Being able to contribute on both sides of the game is something that is important to me. I loved the softball environment, but I also wanted a school where I could see myself being happy outside of softball. Newberry gave me that feeling.”

“Even though it will be about seven hours from home, I could picture myself building a life there, growing as a player and a person, and being part of the Newberry community.”

“The biggest thing for me was feeling wanted and knowing the coaches believe in everything I can bring to the program, both in the circle and at the plate. I wanted a program that would challenge me, give me the opportunity to keep developing as a complete player, and also feel like home.”

“Newberry gave me all of that.”

We also congratulate Ryleigh “Chucky” Davis, a right-handed pitcher and first baseman who is a junior at Santa Fe High in Alachua, Florida.

Line Drive Media profiled her Team NC 16U – Yates/Line squad over the summer when it smacked 17 home runs and had 88 runs scored at Scenic City.  

Yesterday, Chucky committed to Campbell University in North Carolina, which is a D1 program that plays in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) conference and has one of the best nicknames in college sports: The Fighting Camels.

Here’s what Chucky said in regard to her commit.

“I chose Campbell University because of the environment,” she told Line Drive Media.

“I want coaches that will build me as a player, and I feel that’s exactly what this coaching staff is going to do. I wanted a collage that will make me feel at home especially with being far away.”

And we’re also including 2027’s and others like JC transfers we have close to 600 total this month alone!
