Player Rankings: An Example of How to Do a Good HOT 100 Player Nomination (Aug. 2, 2025)

We often get asked what we’re looking for in a player nomination for the Line Drive HOT 100 series. This is the first of several we’ll publish showing why they’re good in helping a player get recognized and honored.

Next up is the 2027 rankings… Click HERE to find out all the details and schedule for this go-round for the incoming juniors. Also, click HERE to go to the nomination form page.

So… you’re a coach or trainer and you want to nominate a player for consideration to be in the HOT 100, yes? Below is an example of one that includes all the key points to help a player get into the system to be evaluated…

Also, as noted at the bottom of the nomination page, please send photos including

  • a head shot,
  • 2-3 good action pics.

The following actual nomination was submitted by Coach Chase Belk of Fury Platinum – Belk, a 2027/2028 travel team located in Mississippi, and is shared here with his permission…

Finally, be sure to check out my thoughts and comments below the submitted info as to 7 reasons why this is a example of a good submission…

Addie Tungett action photo… one of two good ones sent.

7 Reasons That This Is a Good Submission…

  1. Good head shot and action pics… head shot to go with the bio and the action for consideration at the top of the day’s listing such as 60-51
  2. Coach Belk includes the city & state where the player lives as well as the high school (you’d be surprised at how often this key info is left out!)
  3. He identifies both the high school coach and club coach (himself) so, if needed, more info and research can be pursued.
  4. He provides his cell if we need to reach him for further info (note: not a bad idea to include both cell and email, but Coach Belk gives the key item, his cell, so we can reach him immediately if needed)
  5. The stats & honors sections have good content to show the impressive accomplishments of the player
  6. Scouting report highlights what makes her stand out. This is an area where Coach Belk could have added more insights and which we’d likely follow up to get more of a perspective of what pitches Addie throws, what makes her a strikeout artist (Speed? Spins? Placement? Etc.).
  7. Anything unusual or different… this is primarily to get context on the player off the field and perhaps something that would make for a good human interest story. In Addie’s case here, we might do a story on how she’s overcome hearing loss and if using a hearing aid impacts her on the field. Or possibly what she’s learned from teaching local kids and possibly how it’s helped her in her own game.
