College News: Oregon Signs All-Big West Pitcher Staci Chambers (August 17, 2024)

The following news release was issued by Oregon Softball on Thursday…

Staci Chambers, a 2024 All-Big West First Team pitcher for Cal State Fullerton, will join the softball program as a graduate transfer for the 2025 season, coach Melyssa Lombardi announced Thursday.

Oregon Head Coach Melyssa Lombardi

Chambers pitched the Titans to a victory in their 2024 NCAA opening round game against Saint Mary’s where she struck out seven and allowed one run on four hits in a complete game, 6-1 decision.

She went 17-6 with a 2.07 earned run average and 144 strikeouts in 152.0 innings pitched in 2024. She held opponents to a .216 batting average, which was the second-lowest in the Big West.

Chambers recorded four shutouts and two saves. Among those shutouts was a 1-0 no-hitter against Colorado State on Feb. 11. She threw seven complete games.

The left-hander fanned a career-high 10 batters in a 4-0 win against Hawai’i. Chambers also pitched back-to-back shutouts versus Fresno State and Princeton. She is 22-13 in her collegiate career with a 2.87 ERA, 189 strikeouts and 58 walks in 219.1 innings pitched.

“Staci is a competitor who expects to win and compete at the highest level,” said Lombardi. “She brings an infectious energy on mound, has really excellent spin and great movement on her changeup.

“I love that we are adding a lefty to the staff who is going to be a very tough matchup for left-handed batters. Staci makes us very complete and balanced on the mound. This is going to be an elite pitching staff; I really like how this team is coming together.”
