Hosts USA moved into sole possession of first place at the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup 2026 Group Oklahoma City, improving to 3-0 with an 8-0, five-inning win over the Netherlands in the final game of Day 2 at Devon Park.

China also remained unbeaten at 2-0 after defeating New Zealand 6-3, while the Netherlands split their doubleheader to finish the day at 2-1. Brazil, Mexico and New Zealand are still looking for their first win.

China opened the day with a 6-3 victory over New Zealand, collecting 10 hits. Min Ren went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs, while Jiaxin Xie also homered and finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Yinan Chai earned the win after allowing three hits and no runs over 5.2 innings, striking out seven.

USA then produced the biggest offensive performance of the day, defeating Brazil 17-0 in four innings. Megan Grant went 3-for-4 with a home run and seven RBIs, while Maya Brady homered, drove in three and scored four times. Kelly Maxwell threw a one-hit shutout with seven strikeouts.

The Netherlands claimed their second victory of the tournament with a 2-0 shutout of Mexico. Both runs came in the fifth inning, with Suka van Gurp driving them in. Lisa Hop went the distance, scattering five hits and striking out seven without allowing a run.

In the nightcap, USA handed the Netherlands their first defeat, 8-0 in five innings. The hosts scored four runs in the third, two in the fourth and two in the fifth, with Grant, Jayda Coleman and Dejah Mulipola all homering.

Day 3 will feature three games at Devon Park, with the race for the two direct tickets to the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals 2027 continuing to take shape.

USA 17-0 Brazil

USA improved to 2-0 with a 17-0 four-inning win over Brazil, collecting 13 hits and scoring in every inning. The Americans broke the game open with seven runs in the third before adding four more in the fourth.

Megan Grant led the USA offense, going 3-for-4 with a home run and seven RBIs, while Maya Brady went 2-for-2 with a home run, three RBIs and four runs scored. Erin Coffel added two hits and two RBIs, and Jayda Coleman went 2-for-2.

Kelly Maxwell earned the win with a one-hit shutout, striking out seven without allowing a walk over four innings.

Angelina Sunahara recorded Brazil’s only hit. Mariana Kotaka took the loss.

USA 8, Netherlands 0

USA closed Day 2 with an 8-0 five-inning win over the Netherlands, improving to 3-0 and taking sole possession of first place. Jayda Coleman hit a two-run walk-off homer, while Megan Grant also homered and drove in three runs.

The hosts broke a scoreless tie with four runs in the third inning, added two in the fourth and another two in the fifth. Dejah Mulipola also went deep, while Skylar Wallace finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Montana Fouts earned the win with a complete-game shutout, allowing three hits and no walks while striking out eight over five innings.

Eva Voortman took the loss for the Netherlands, who finished the day at 2-1 after defeating Mexico earlier.

China collected 10 hits and built an early advantage with three runs in the third inning. Min Ren led the offence, going 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs, while Jiaxin Xie went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.

New Zealand scored twice in the fifth and once in the sixth, with Shyah Hale also homering. Devna Shaw-Tait had two hits.

Yinan Chai earned the win, allowing three hits and no runs over 5.2 innings, with seven strikeouts and two walks. Pania Monk took the loss for New Zealand.

Netherlands 2, Mexico 0

The Netherlands improved to 2-0 with a 2-0 shutout win over Mexico, scoring both runs in the fifth inning, behind a stellar performance by the team’s ace, Lisa Hop.

Suka van Gurp drove in both runs, while Annemiek Jansen and Damishah Charles scored. The Dutch finished with three hits, while Mexico collected five but could not turn them into runs. Kayden Michelle Henry led Mexico with two hits.

Hop earned the win with a complete-game shutout, allowing five hits and one walk while striking out seven over seven innings. Mariah Nicole Mazon took the loss after allowing two runs on three hits over five innings, with Lindsay Lopez Johansen pitching a scoreless sixth.

Mexico dropped to 0-2.
