Last fall, when we published the 2027 Line Drive Hot 100 Player Rankings, we had Charlize (Chuck) Masingale, the UCLA-bound catcher who won a PGF 16U National Championship last summer, at No. 3 overall.

At the 2026 Patriot Games that concluded on June 28^th, her Athletics Mercado – Smith team captured the championship with a 6-4 win over a strong Georgia Impact team and Charlize was a key reason why with a big RBI single in the title game win.

But the biggest blow for Chuck and her team came in an Elite 8 game when she hit a walk-off three-run home run to help the A’s beat the Corona Angels 10-7 in what may have been the most exciting game of the event.

Line Drive’s Brentt Eads caught up with Chuck after that big win and game-winning walk-off… here’s what she had to say:
