Event Recap: TFL Summer Championships Crown 18U, 16U, 14U & 12U Champions (June 23, 2024)

The TFL Summer Championships were held from June 21-23 in Texas (All rankings are Line Drive Hot 50 Club National Rankings):

In 18U:

#25 Strykers National-Esparza’s huge weekend culminated with a 8-6 victory over Texas Bombers Gold-Jacoby in the 18U final of the TFL Summer Championships on Sunday at Heritage Park.

The Strykers came up empty after loading the bases in the top of the 1st inning, but they jumped on Bombers-Jacoby in the top of the 2nd inning. Uncommitted 2025 UT Siannah Nava drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, North Texas-bound P/SS Matti Matthews had a two-run single and Texas Tech-bound 3B/P/UT Bailey Lindemuth drilled a two-run homer to give the Strykers a 5-0 lead.

Texas State-bound IF Abby Garza had a sacrifice fly in 3rd and Baylor-committed 2025 1B/3B/C Charleigh Esparza hit a solo homer in the 4th for the Strykers.

Sam Houston State-bound OF Karrlauhn Deas hit a solo homer in the bottom of the 4th for the Bombers.

Garza added a two-run homer in the top of the 5th for the Strykers.

Deas ended up with four RBIs for the Bombers.

Oklahoma State-committed 2025 C/OF Gabby Castillo hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 5th inning as Bombers-Jacoby tied Bombers-Smith, 3-3, and Deas delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the 6th inning as Bombers-Jacoby upset #6 Texas Bombers Gold-Smith, 4-3, in the semifinals.

In 16U:

#4 Impact Gold-Jazz rolled to a 9-2 victory over #20 Texas Glory-Shelton in the 16U championship game of the TFL Summer Championships on Sunday at Heritage Park in Fort Worth, TX.

It was the second consecutive TFL Summer Championship title for Impact Gold-Jazz.

Georgia Tech-committed 2025 IF Landri Pick went 2 for 2 with a homer, two runs and two RBIs and uncommitted 2026 OF/SS Adelynn Siegel went 1 for 1 with a run and two RBIs to lift Impact Gold-Jazz in the final.

Impact Gold-Jazz defeated Texas Glory 2025, 7-1, Texas Bombers Gold-Serie, 7-1, and Texas Glory-Shelton, 9-2, in Elite 8 games on Sunday.

In 14U:

#3 Impact Gold 2K9 National completed a dominant run at TFL Summer Championships with a 5-2 victory over #7 Texas Bombers Gold-Malpass in the 14U championship game on Sunday at Warren Sports Complex in Frisco, TX.

Uncommitted 2027 RHP Leanna Bourdage started and allowed three hits, two runs and struck out six in 3.0 innings and uncommitted 2027 RHP Macie Bryant threw 1.0 innings of scoreless relief, allowing one hit and striking out one to combine on the victory for Impact Gold.

2028 LF Rhymee Rutherford went 2 for 2 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI to pace the offense for Impact Gold.

Impact Gold cruised to the tournament title, beating LA Fury Platinum 2027-Chaffin, 3-0, Texas Express Premier, 3-2, and Texas Bombers Gold-Malpass, 5-2, in Elite 8 games on Sunday.

In 12U:

Impact Gold National 2011-Mendoza beat Texas Bombers Gold-Cline twice in the same day, including, 4-2, to win the 12U title of the TFL Summer Championships on Sunday at Gabe Nesbitt Field.

Impact Gold scored four runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to erase a 2-0 deficit.

Impact Gold defeated Texas Bombers Gold-Cline, 9-2, Texas Glory RWB, 4-3, and Texas Bombers Gold-Cline, 4-2, on Sunday to claim the 14U title.

2029 1B/P Paityn Dusablon (.615 AVG, 7 singles 1 double, 7 RBIs), 2029 P/OF Te’A Turner (.667 AVG, 3 hits, 2 singles, 1 double, 3 RBIs), 2030 P Sofia Poulis (.455 AVG, 5 hits, 3 singles, 1 double, 1 triple, 5 RBIs, 3-run double in championship game, 4-0, 0.84 ERA) and 2029 SS Lyla-Cate Wimberly (.455 AVG, 5 hits, 5 singles) led Impact Gold for the tournament.
