The PGF Seniors and Futures All-American Games were played Saturday (July 27, 2024) after the 16U and 18U National Champions were crowned (the Mojo-Lewis and Birmingham Thunderbolts – Rocky teams, respectively.
There was one just home run hit between the two games and, wow, was it a “no-doubter!” Bret Denio of PGF estimated it was 230 feet as the fence at Bill Barber Park in Irvine, Calif. is 220.
That smash was hit in the top of the second inning by Joie Economides, a 2024 graduate signed with Stanford, and ended up being the difference as her West team defeated the East 2-1.
Here’s the clip from the family and you have to LOVE their reactions!
Joie signed with Stanford last November, one of five talented players signed by Head Coach Jessica Allister.
Here’s the bio released at that time on Joie:
Joie Economides • INF • R/R • West Covina, Calif. • South Hills HS
Allister on Economides:
“Joie has the ability to hit for tremendous power at this level. Between her explosive right handed bat and her strong defensive skills at first base we are excited for what Joie will add to the future Cardinal lineup.”
