It marked the first time this season the Sooners (22-0) are atop the rankings following a three-game sweep of new-No. 9 South Carolina in the Southeastern Conference opener.

OU, making its SEC debut at home against the Gamecocks, came out on the winning end of three one-run contests (10-9, 10-9, 2-1). The two programs had entered the series as the only two undefeated teams left in the Top 25. The Gamecocks (20-3) had defeated Youngstown State in a mid-week contest to match their best start in program history (20-0 / 1976).

The Longhorns (24-1) were one of three SEC programs (LSU & Alabama) not to open league play last weekend. They extended their win streak to 13 with a mid-week victory over Baylor and three more on Saturday and Sunday against Merrimack, Oakland and Kent State at the Ohio State Tournament.

No. 3 Florida, No. 4 LSU, No. 5 Texas A&M, No. 6 UCLA and No. 7 Tennessee did not move this week. The Gators (26-2) and Lady Vols (21-4) each won their opening SEC series 2-1 on the road against the fifth-ranked Aggies and No. 13 Georgia, respectively.

The fourth-ranked Tigers (23-1) and sixth-ranked Bruins (23-4) each won five home games last week.

No. 8 Oregon and South Carolina cracked the top 10 with Florida State (20-6) rounding it out at No. 10. The Ducks (23-2) picked up four wins, two of which were shutouts of then-No. 8 FSU (2-0, 1-0), hosting the Jane Sanders Classic.

No. 11 Arizona and No. 12 Arkansas dropped out of the top 10 after falling in their respective conference series to UCF and new-No. 22 Ole Miss.

With no new teams this week, other programs making upward moves were No. 14 Texas Tech (20-7), No. 18 Stanford (17-3), No. 19 Mississippi State (21-3) and Ole Miss.

The 2025 NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll is voted on by 31 NCAA Division I head coaches with one representing each of the NCAA’s Division I Conferences.
