Ron Pezzoni has a strong baseball background which he’s utilized to great success in the fastpitch softball world, too.
He grew up in Rochester, Michigan and was All-State at Rochester High and then had great success at the college level where he as a three-time All-Conference selection at Eastern Kentucky and made the Colonels’ All-Century Team.
Ron would go on to play five years of pro baseball in the Seattle and San Francisco organizations, making it to the AA level before retiring from the game.
Then something happened that would change the direction of on-field focus—he had two daughters, which moved him full-time into the softball world.
Oldest daughter Veronica played a year at Tennessee Martin and her final three season at Madonna University where she was an All-American and Conference Player of the Year followed by his youngest daughter Sydney, who competed at Eastern Kentucky for a year.

What does Coach Ron think about softball compared to his earlier years in baseball?
“I love the speed and the pace of the game,” he answers.
Since entering the fastpitch space, he’s never looked back and coached at the high school level for five years at Howell (Mich.) High, where he helped lead the Highlanders program to a pair of Michigan state Final Four appearances.
Currently, he’s having great success coaching Madonna University in Livonia, Mich. where he’s won three WHAC championships the last two years and finish 5th of 24 teams in the NAIA College World Series.
The Turnin2 organization was founded in 2012 by Ron, who co-owns the program with Rodney Robeson.
“It was established to create a dedicated, high-level softball program in the Midwest focused specifically on providing a clear and comprehensive path for athletes to reach the collegiate level,” he explains.
A club founder and co-owner as well as a current travell ball and college head coach… how, Coach Ron was asked, do you find time to fit everything into one day?
“It’s a lot but I love being around the game,” he responds.
“The players I coach are awesome people that are enjoyable to be around so it doesn’t feel like work! I have a lot of help and a lot of great coaches long with an amazing partner at T2, Rodney Robeson, and well as the management staff also.”
Line Drive caught up with Ron recently to learn more about his club organization as well as his talented Turnin2 16U team he coaches which will have a very busy summer season:
Here’s more with Coach Ron as he talks about his team, his club program and the training facility built to help his players get the best competitive advantage possible…
*****
Where are you based? Where do your athletes come from (all locally, some out of state?)
We are based out of our T2 softball training facility in Brighton, Michigan, and have players from across Michigan and Ohio.
What was the purpose of creating the team (showcase players, win titles, develop skills, etc.)?
Our foundation is built as a premier college prep program. Our formula is designed to attract and develop high-level talent while guaranteeing participation in the best showcase events to ensure athletes receive the maximum exposure to college coaches.
What do you think are the strengths of the team?
Our core strengths lie in our high softball IQ, fundamentally sound defense, and aggressive baserunning. Our team motto is “Dominate the Routine Plays”. We emphasize developing intelligent players who understand the strategy of the game, which directly translates to success and readiness at the college level.

What is your primary focus or goal with this group of players?
Our primary focus is two-fold: achieving national visibility by competing for titles at the most prestigious events and executing an individualized plan to ensure every player finds the perfect collegiate fit – academically, athletically, and socially.
Has there been a key moment or defining experience in the team’s history?
While we are a new, younger 16U team, we managed to gel quickly as a group this fall and have had plenty of success already. A defining moment this fall was at the Finesse Fall Invitational in Sylvania, Ohio, where our team went undefeated and won the championship with a good following of coaches watching.
What have been some of your successes in terms of winning or placing at events this past year? Overall, we went 21-10 this fall, and on top of winning the Finesse Fall Invitational, we had strong performances in top showcases like Easton Rawlings in Columbus, Easton Elite Fall Showcase in O’Fallon, Alliance/HFL Fall in Chesterfield, and the Clearwater Fall Classic in Florida.

What’s your softball background and how did you get to the point of leading the team?
I played pro baseball for years and once my daughters were old enough to show interest, I switched to softball. I really enjoyed the speed of the game and embraced being a coach and instructor, founding the Turnin2 Training Center in Brighton, Michigan and coaching at the high school and college levels. I’ve been serving as head softball coach at Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan since 2023, and continue to run the T2 organization and coach a national team.
What makes the organization unique?
Our uniqueness stems from our philosophy as a College Prep program and providing access to a softball-focused training facility, providing our athletes with exclusive, year-round access to cutting-edge technology like Rapsodo and Blast Motion and highly specialized professional instructors and camps, which few travel programs can match.
How many teams are there in the organization overall?
We have 25 teams based out of our Brighton training facility, 17 out of our Michigan East Side facility in Utica, one on the west side of the state, and a team based in Colorado. So over 40 teams with a handful being our national level representatives and the rest playing regionally.

If there is one thing you would say that separates you from other club programs, what would it be?
On top of our player development, it is our deep and proven college recruiting network. We have established personal relationships with coaches across all collegiate divisions, actively guiding and advocating for our players throughout the entire recruiting process.
Anything else interesting or fun that to portray your team as a top organization?
This team is the most talented group I’ve started with, and they wasted no time in bonding and having fun while still keeping a competitive mindset. I’m really excited to see them continue to grow and develop together.
