In your eyes, what are some of the top honors and accomplishments you’ve achieved individually and with your teams?
Starting varsity as a 7th grader but our season got cut short due to COVID. Receiving All State four straight years in high school. Finishing top five in PGF, runner up in Top Club, and top eight in Colorado Sparkler/ Fireworks last summer as a team.

Purple is a color you’ll often find around Kylee!

What’s been your most memorable softball experience?
Hitting a walk off grand slam in a championship game. My dad was coaching third base at the time and was so excited he started high stepping!

What would you say are your strengths on the field?
My ability to lead my field behind the plate, my arm strength, and my power in the box.

Have you set personal goals for yourself for this year?
Have a batting average of .400 in both travel and high school softball. Help lead my team to win a state championship.

Do you have any softball superstitions?
I have to do long toss before every game.

What would you say is your philosophy in life?
YOLO – you only live once! Also, have no regrets and live life to the fullest.

If you had to describe yourself in one word, what would it be on-field? Off the field?
“Competitive” and “Outgoing.”

What’s been your favorite place you’ve played softball?
Definitely Huntington Beach, California… you cannot beat the weather there; it always feels amazing!

What’s the biggest obstacle you’ve had to overcome in life?
Getting my tonsils out in October of last year (2023) and not be able to do anything for about a month. To come back for fall season was really tough—I was really out of shape and felt behind, but it made me want to work even harder to be better than I was before.

What drives you to play the game of softball?
The drive to win. I want to win in everything I do.

What’s one thing or accomplishment about you that is unusual or unique which few know (until know)?
I am really involved at my school. I am a member of FCA, BETA, SADD, and student council. I am actually hosting our school’s first Bloomer Bowl this year.

OFF THE FIELD:

What’s your favorite softball item, like a preferred bat, glove, etc.?
My catchers gear… and a quick shout out to EvoShield! They have the most comfortable gear and I love it so much.

A standout basketball player too, the senior says she’ll just focus on softball in college.

Favorite item(s) in your closet?
My biker shorts and oversized t-shirts.

Favorite school subject?
Science.

Best way to unwind is…
Working out and going for a run.

If you have 30 minutes to shop and $100 to spend, where do you go?
I would go to Free People and buy every single color in there “get your flirt on shorts” because they are so comfortable and cute!

What’s playing in your headphones right now?
“Boom Boom Pow” by Black Eyed Peas.

Celebrity you’d like most to hang out with…
Adam Sandler.

What’s been your favorite vacation or place you’ve visited?
Destin, Florida…  the water is so pretty and it’s the best vacation.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what’s the one thing you’d want to have with you (sorry: can’t be a phone as they’re no cell towers nearby!)
Allie, because we would just yap to each other and laugh.

If you could have dinner with anyone… living or dead… who would it be?
Shaquille O’Neal.

From a young age, Kylee has always loved LSU!

Favorite college uniform (and why):
LSU, of course, because in high school our school colors are Purple and Gold and we are also the Tigers. It’s the best combo!

What worries you most about what classmates your age are facing in the future?
Not being able to live on their own because they depend on their parents to do everything for them.

If you won a million dollars and had to spend it all in 24 hours, how would you spend it?
I’d buy myself an all blacked out Mercedes Benz G Wagen and go on a huge shopping spree on Rodeo Drive in California.

Calories aside, what food could you eat and never get sick of?
Boiled crawfish and shrimp.

Best talent off the field?
Basketball, track, pickleball, and dancing.

What have you learned most about yourself over the last year or two?
That hard work pays off and having discipline and dedication within yourself is important.

Who inspires you (athletically & non-athletically)?
Michael Jordan and my mother.

When you leave the game of softball, how do you want to be remembered and what will you do when you’re finished playing to help grow the game?
I don’t think I will ever truly leave the game because I want to stay involved by coaching.

If I do leave I want to be remembered as someone who worked hard, was a great teammate, was loud, energetic, and just a ball of fun to be around.

Softball has made such an incredible impact on my life and I have learned so much because of it.

In the Spirit of Sister Fun! Q&A w/ Kylee Savant

So (in the spirit of fun)… who’s the better softball player: you or Allie and why?
I don’t like to answer this question because me and Allie are two totally different players. I catch and she plays middle infield. I hit for power and Allie is more of a base hit batter. We are both really good at our jobs and I would want both of us on my team!

What’s it like being a senior now… exciting or a bit scary?
It’s both exciting and scary. Excited for all the senior activities with my best friends since middle school. A bit scary to know that my high school memories are coming to an end. But excited again to be able to go to my dream school and play the sport I love.

Talk about the moment you realized LSU was the place for you… what was the final piece of the puzzle in terms of you deciding to be a Tiger?
Growing up, LSU was definitely my dream school. To be able to stay in my home state and continue my athletic and academic career was a huge goal. All my family are huge LSU fans as well. LSU just feels like home to me.

The standout catcher gets it done while having fun on the field!

Basketball: will you try to continue on the court once at LSU or will you be all softball all the time?
I love basketball and it’s a lot of fun but I don’t love it enough to continue it in college.

In hoops, what do you think is the strength of your game?
I’m a small forward, meaning I dribble, shoot, post wherever the team needs me most at. My favorite thing is to shoot 3’s and rebound.

What are you going to work and focus on specifically on your softball game before you hit LSU?
I want to develop the best version of myself physically and mentally. Being in the weight room non-stop to get as strong as I can. Really focusing in the classroom and studying hard.

What’s been your favorite athletic experience?
Making it to State for the semifinal game my freshman year and having both of my sisters on the team with me. My older sister, Kaykay was a senior and played first base. I was the catcher and Allie was in 7th grade playing right field. This was such an amazing experience, and I will never forget the bus ride there and back with them.

When all is said and done, how proud are you of your lil sis (Allie)?
I am so proud of her; she has come a long way! I know it’s not always easy having me as a big sister, but we push each other, hold each other accountable, and make each other better.

Any idea what you want to study in college or do after your playing days are done?
I am in between deciding if I want to be a chiropractor or a teacher/coach. My dream job would to be able to coach Division 1 college softball because I give lessons to kids now and enjoy sharing my knowledge of the game to others.

Finally, who’s funnier… you or Allie?
Definitely me!
