The Biggest Recruiting Week of The Year with 250+ Commits

No, that’s not a misprint—we have added more than 250 new commits over the last week, meaning there are a lot of very happy softball players across the U.S. and Canada who know where they will be playing at the next level.

So why so many?

Here’s one theory: with Sept. 1 coming up in two and a half weeks and the Class of 2028 recruiting cycle ready to kick off, college coaches are finalizing their future rosters by locking down players now before they start moving forward to this upcoming 2026-2027 recruiting year.

And there’s been the trickle-down effect where players still on the market are finalizing their choices because they want to know where they will be in the future.

Interestingly, we’re even seeing some 2028’s announcing where they’ll be playing in college, but, of course, many things can happen before then.

Charlotte Yarnall is a 2027 grad who batted .427 this year with eight home runs and 38 RBIs in 28 games at Summit (N.J.) High.

A good example of an excellent player committing recently is Charlotte Yarnall, a right-handed pitcher and first baseman from Summit, New Jersey who’s a 2027 grad at Summit High and plays for NJ Pride – Stern.

Charlotte was All-State this season and has also been a three-time All-County honoree. This year she batted .426 with eight home runs and 38 RBIs in 30 games. She was also so highly respected, she had 22 walks this season.

On the club side, she was named Alliance Northeast Fastpitch League (NEFL) Player of the Month for June 2024 when she batted .571 and pitched 11 innings with 16 strikeouts.

Thanks to her father, Timothy, for letting us know about her commit to UConn in the Big East Conference.

We asked Charlotte what is it about the Huskies program that she loves… here’s what she told us about her recruiting journey:

“The recruiting process was an exciting time for me, and I am really lucky to have met so many amazing coaches and players.”

Charlotte Yarnall was named the Alliance Northeast Fastpitch League (NEFL) Player of the Month in June of 2024.

“When I was on campus at UConn in June during one of their camps, I was able to experience an environment of what felt like a very close-knit community.”

“A couple of months later, as soon as I got back onto campus, I had that same feeling again.”

“The team was so friendly and open about their experiences as softball players at UConn and only had great things to say about the life of a student-athlete there.”

“I am also very interested in the journalism and broadcast programs offered at UConn making it a perfect fit for me off the field.”

“Ultimately, being a part of a championship team, getting a top tier education, and going to a place where the coaches really believe in you and have created such a close family atmosphere is what led me to make my decision to be a Husky!”

We also extend congratulations to Kam Staley, a 2027 corner infielder who’s an incoming senior at South Aiken High in Aiken, South Carolina, and sent in her commit to us with the accompanying graphic:

Kam Staley of Carolina Mojo – Starkey has committed to Johnson C. Smith University.

Kam plays for the Carolina Mojo – Starkey Club team and has committed to Johnson C. Smith University, a Div. II program located in Charlotte, North Carolina.

This year, she batted .422 with a .480 on-base percentage and had 16 RBIs.

Kam also plays basketball for the South Aiken High Thoroughbreds.
