When you know, you know.

That was the sentiment of outstanding corner infielder Izzy Frye from California, who had a clear feeling that the school she chose was the right one for her.

Here’s a closer look at this Golden State junior who will be staying in-state to play for a West Coast Conference private school that is about four hours north up the coast of California.

*****

When did you officially commit?
I committed last Sunday, September 14th.

How did you do it?
I called (St. Mary’s Head) Coach (Sonja) Garnett from the airport after my official visit to the University of Southern Mississippi.

Izzy with her mother, Amie Frye, during their unofficial visit to the Northern California college located in the San Francisco Bay Area.

What factors were key in your choice?
After my unofficial visit at Saint Mary’s, I just felt in my gut that’s where I wanted to be.

Did you do anything to celebrate the big decision?
Not yet, my parents are planning something for me.

Have you taken any official campus visits?
Yes, I took an official visit to the Southern Mississippi last weekend (September 13-14).

What did your future coaches say they liked about your game enough to offer you?
My work ethic and consistency and hitting.

Have the St. Mary’s coaches said how they see using you once you on campus?
Coach G just mentioned to stay with what I am doing and come in and compete.

What, in your opinion, are 1-3 of your biggest softball accomplishments?

  1. Being recognized for my hard work and dedication to the sport and getting the accolades that go with it,
  2. Leading the league in home runs my sophomore year.
  3. Making my parents proud because I know they have sacrificed everything to get me here and accepting the offer from Saint Mary’s to play Division 1 softball.   ❤️

Anything else you’d like to add about this exciting news?
I give ALL glory to Jesus Christ because He has given me my path, and I’m blessed enough to receive it and live through His grace.
