Recruiting Spotlight: How 2027 Infielder Reagan Evans from Washington Was Offered & Committed to the Cowgirls… All This Month! (December 21, 2025)

Regan makes a tag for her Sedro-Woolley Cubs, which won the state championship her freshman year (2024)

A standout softball and basketball player from the Northwest, Reagan Evans has already had quite the athletic career—from winning a state championship to setting several school records—but the last few months have been a particularly exciting whirlwind for this outstanding infielder.

The junior from Sedro-Woolley—a city of under 13,000 about an hour’s north drive from Seattle—had a great summer leading to heavy contacts from college coaches starting September 1.

However, an official visit to Oklahoma State the first weekend of December led to Reagan being offered and committing soon after to the Cowgirls’ coaching staff.

Here’s how it all came to pass so quickly this month…

I also scored 46 runs, drew 11 walks, and drove in 55 RBIs—breaking the previous school RBI record of 44 which was set in 2013.

Do you play other sports? If so, anything you’re proud to share?

I’m a multi-sport athlete and earned started positions in my freshman and sophomore season.

Here’s what I’ve done in basketball:

  • Team Captain for Sedro-Woolley High basketball (2025/2026)
  • Two-time Northwest Conference 2nd Team All-Conference

The 2027 grad has earned already All-Conference honors in softball and basketball.
What’s been a top 1-2 softball experience in your career?

Winning State my freshman year in high school was an unforgettable experience filled with emotion and a sense of fulfillment.

The season was full of anticipation and close games leading up to the championship, including one where I hit a walk-off home run to secure the win.

The support and excitement from the community made the achievement even more special!

Also, September 1, 2025, was a milestone for me. I have always known that I wanted to play Division I softball and have worked hard toward that goal over the years.

While I understand that not everyone who ultimately commits is contacted on that day, the anticipation leading up to it was intense. Hearing the sound of text messages, emails, and phone calls at midnight and throughout the day was both exciting and encouraging.

And of course, the highlight to date, ultimately committing to Oklahoma State University!

How did your future university first find you to start recruiting you?

I met Coach “G” (Kenny Gajewski) and Coach (Greg) Bergeron at a Connect Camp leading up to the Top Gun Invitational tournament in Shawnee, Kan. last June.

I had a really great conversation with Coach G at the camp, and started e-mailing them updates regularly, and they started coming out to watch me compete.

When did they offer you a scholarship?

During my official visit on December 3rd, 2025!

When and how did you commit? What were the circumstances?

I verbally committed to Coach “G” via telephone on December 9. I knew before we left Oklahoma that I wanted to commit, but I waited until I was home and had a good night’s rest before reaching out to him.

When I did contact Coach “G,” it took a few days for us to connect due to my basketball schedule, a softball fundraiser, and his own scheduling conflicts.

During that time, I had one follow-up question, but regardless, I knew I was all in. Finally, on the evening of December 9th, our schedules aligned – sort of. Coach “G” was attending a coaches’ conference in Las Vegas, but he made time to call me before the dead period began on the 10th.

When he called, my mom was with me, and after a brief conversation, I shared the news that I was committing.

It was a short but exciting conversation, and we agreed that, given the timing, we would wait until after the dead period to announce my commitment.

Those were the longest few days of my life!

What was it about the school/program that made you decide it was the place for you? Did you have an “aha” moment where it suddenly was obviously the right place for you?

It wasn’t a single moment when I knew, it was an overall feeling I had throughout my visit. Stillwater felt like home, and the coaching staff and players I met felt familiar, like family.

From the initial airport pickup, to breakfast with the coaches the following morning, and throughout my entire visit, I had a genuine sense of belonging.

Conversations flowed easily, and in a situation that could have felt overwhelming or intimidating, I felt relaxed and comfortable. I had prepared a long list of questions, but by the time it came to ask them, the coaches had already addressed everything I could think of.

It just felt right.

Who helped you in your softball decision… anyone? Family? Coaches?

Coach (Teresa) Wilson and Coach (Lori) Castellano with the Washington Grapes placed a strong emphasis on recruitment at an early age, focusing on finding the “right” program for each player based on individual priorities and goals.

After September 1, Coach Wilson and Coach (Dennis) Muir (Northwest Bullets) were a huge support in helping navigate the recruitment process, and ultimately, my mom helped guide me in making the final decision.

Reagan batted .556 last spring – her sophomore campaign – with a 1.022 slugging percentage.
Do you know yet what you will study in college? What you’d like to do for a career after school/softball is over?

I plan to major in Engineering.

While I haven’t finalized my specific focus yet, after a very informative meeting with the Engineering School at OSU, I am considering a dual major in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

I know it won’t be easy but knowing that at least one other Cowgirl has successfully pursued an Engineering degree is incredibly encouraging.

After college and softball, my plan is to join a branch of the military and use my engineering degree to serve my country and make a positive impact.

What top tournaments/events will you and your team be playing in next year (2026)?

Two big ones will be IDT in Colorado (June 29-July 5, 2026) and PGF Nationals (July 17-25, 2026).

What’s something about you off the field that not many know?

This isn’t something that I like to talk about, but it is something that has shaped who I am. I lost my dad to COVID in 2021, which was incredibly difficult.

Through the love and support of my family, friends, and coaches, I’ve been able to keep moving forward and continue a path that I know would make him proud, both athletically and academically.

Although he isn’t here with me physically, I’ve felt his presence every step of the way, and his influence continues to motivate me every day.

What do you love most about softball?

What I love most about softball is that there is always room to improve and grow. It pushes you to keep striving to be better and never settle.

No matter how much you learn or how skilled you become, there is always something new to work on and another goal to chase.

In one word, describe yourself on the field…

Purposeful.

And off the field…

Heart.
