Pro News: KC Diamonds Announce Team Roster, Home Series in June (Feb. 5, 2025)

A new team has been announced, the KC Diamonds, which will be a college exhibition squad that will compete with other top teams nationwide including the Florida Vibe and the New York Rise.

The trio of teams will play each other in June concurrently with the Top Gun Invitational in Kansas City, a club softball tournament that brings over 300 teams to the Kansas City metro and creates more than $13 million in economic impact.

The Kansas City Diamonds roster will be composed of standout collegiate juniors and seniors from across the nation. As a newly formed elite team, the Diamonds aim to celebrate Kansas City’s legacy as a hub for softball talent.

“We’re proud to bring together the Florida Vibe, New York Rise, and some of the best collegiate players in the country for this series,” said Jeremy McDowell, Top Gun Events CEO.

“This event isn’t just to showcase talent—it’s to inspire the next generation of players and fans.”

Top Gun Events will host what will be Kansas City’s first-ever professional softball series and will feature six games across June 11, 12, and 13 in a competitive round-robin tournament.

Beyond the action on the field, fans can look forward to a home run derby, engaging player opportunities like autograph and photo sessions, and interactive caps and clinics hosted by the professional teams.

The Florida Vibe, of Bradenton, is entering their fourth year of play. The team was led by Leah Amico in 2024. The New York Rise was led by former MLB player Rodney “Crash” McCray in their inaugural season in 2024. The team is based on Long Island, New York.

“The Florida Vibe is thrilled with the opportunity to visit and compete in Kansas City this summer at the annual iconic Top Gun Invitational, while growing the Vibe brand and showcasing its players in a new vibrant market,” said Ryan Moore, owner of the Florida Vibe.

“This is truly historic for us and we’re looking forward to a strong future with Top Gun Events and its affiliates.”
