In April 2024, LG Goldin was tabbed as the No. 1 prospect in the 2029 Line Drive Hot 100 player rankings.
Here are excerpts from that bio that was released in the Spring:
T-1—LG Goldin, SS, Georgia Impact – Cleghorn
LG is a game-changing player, a true five-tool athlete who is already well-known on the national level as an elite shortstop. She plays with an IQ well beyond her age and can make all throws at all arm angles. LG has elite range and footwork, and her arm strength is equal to top-level high school players years older than her.
Last Fall (2023), she batted .540 at the high school level and over 60 percent of LG’s hits were extra base hits including three round trippers. She also has elite speed as she was 27 for 27 in stolen bases.
LG also plays basketball and runs track for her Buford (Ga.) Middle School.
Talk about coming from a family of athletes… LG’s mother, Abbey, was a college basketball player while her dad, Ryan, played college football and is a former world champion power lifter.
LG’s siblings are equally talented as her brother, Cannon Goldin, is the No. 1 baseball player in Georgia and is ranked as the No. 9 draft prospect by Baseball America though he is currently committed to Ole Miss at this time.
LG’s sister, Janie Goldin, is considered as a Top 10 softball player in the Class of 2027 and competed last year for Georgia Impact 08 coached by Kip Taylor.
LG was also highlighted as the top player in her class in article titled 2029 Line Drive HOT 100 No. 1 Spotlight… Shortstop LG Goldin Already Getting Major College Attention.
Her Georgia Impact Head Coach Jason Cleghorn added:
“She is a rare athlete that possesses size, speed, and power. LG is a once in a lifetime talent.”
So how did LG do after she was announced in the top spot for the ’29 class?
Combining her stats for the Spring, Summer and Fall seasons of this year (2024), the Peach State product put up video game-like numbers on the field:
*****
“How did she take her game up another level (or 20)?” we asked her recently.
“I added weight training,” the youth athlete, responded.
“I also had the opportunity to work with players like my sister, Janie, and the rest of the varsity softball team at Buford (High).
Janie is herself a highly esteemed player and was ranked No. 4 in the Line Drive HOT 100 2027 rankings that came out at the end of the July.
Here’s her bio from this summer— note: the current 10th grader now plays for Brittany Lewis’s Mojo 2008 team:
T-4—Janie Goldin, C/OF, Georgia Impact 08 – Taylor
Janie has excelled in her three years competing with Head Coach Kip Taylor in the Georgia Impact organization and in 2024 she hit .549 with a .582 on-base percentage and had 27 steals. Janie is also a nationally ranked long jumper in track and that excellent athleticism is apparent on the field where she can excel in the 6-hole or even behind the plate in large part because of her strong throwing arm. She excels in other sports, too, including basketball and in track where, in addition to being a record-setting long jumper, she also runs individual sprints and on her school’s relay teams.
Janie wrapped her 2024 season up in good form too, as she hit over .400 for Mojo – Lewis at the Bombers Exposure Weekend the weekend of Nov. 12-13.
Now, the two siblings can catch their breaths and enjoy the holiday season, which begins in a big way this Monday (Nov. 25, 2024) as LG and Janie will fly to Paris to spend some quality down-time with their “Grammie,” Jane Norman.
In the rare, but much appreciated time away from softball, the softball standouts and sisters will enjoy time at the Eiffel Tower and in cooking and perfume making classes.
Then, it’s back to work for the girls which will include two prospect camps this Winter for LG, who is still picking between the many campus invites she has received.
“LG gets messages on ‘X’ (Twitter) almost every day inviting her to camps,” her father, Ryan, says.
“These schools—programs such as Texas, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Arkansas and more—send mail to LG and also to Coach Cleghorn and Coach Lincoln Martin asking them to help them get her to their camps!”
