Rose Wendel is a Class of 2027 corner infielder and pitcher currently competing for the Keystone State Bombers 18U team from Manheim, Pa. and is also a talented writer and blogger for Line Drive Softball.

The current sophomore attends Hempfield High in Salunga-Landisville, Pa. and really turned heads last summer when she hit .588 for her 18U club squad. She’s originally from California and sometimes plays with the San Diego-based Athletics – Mercado National Showcase 16U team.

Summer Team Uniform Reveal! 

Exciting times are ahead as I’ll be splitting my summer between two amazing teams: half with my PA Keystone State Bombers team and the other half with a team from my hometown, San Diego, Athletics Mercado National Showcase Team! 

I’m beyond thrilled to share that I’ve just received my new uniform for the Athletics Mercado National Showcase Team 16U out of California! It’s such an honor to be a part of this incredible squad, and I can’t wait to hit the field with them this summer!

Keystone State Bombers Training:

I’ve been training three days a week with my Pennsylvania travel team, the Keystone State Bombers. We have an incredible indoor facility and top-notch coaches. Our workouts include powertrain weightlifting, conditioning, hitting, infield/outfield work, plus pitching and catching. I’m doing it all, and it’s really pushing me to new heights! 

Winter Dome Performance:

I had a strong showing at our Winter Dome game going 12 for 16 with a .750 batting average but I know must continue refining my skills and stay focused. 

Academics:

I’m proud to report that I have all A’s in my Honors classes, both as a freshman and so far this year. Right now, I’m spending about three hours a night on AP History and Honors Geometry. While I’m doing well, I’m still figuring out if I’m a history buff! Either way, my hard work is paying off academically.

Sweet 16 Celebrations

I’ve been attending a lot of Sweet 16’s this year! Even though I won’t turn 16 until July, it’s still fun to be part of all the celebrations now! 

Varsity Softball Achievement:

I officially made our 6A High School Varsity softball team again! I’ll be starting in left field and also pitching as the No. 2 pitcher. I’m ready to take on the challenge and keep learning! 

Community Service:

I volunteered again with Wreaths Across America and Clare House, continuing to stay involved in the community and give back whenever I can. 

Class Historian & Prom Planning

As class Historian and being on the Steering Committee, I’m helping plan prom for the Juniors of 2026. It’s a big responsibility, but we’re working through it and figuring it all out! 

College Games

I’ll be watching some college softball games in person this month; I’m lucky that some of the schools I’m interested in are playing nearby. It’s going to be a great chance to see the action up close.
