Outstanding 2025 catcher/infielder Kendall Wells, pictured here with Oklahoma Head Coach Patty Gasso, has had an All-American caliber season this year. Know anyone else who has?

Line Drive Video Interview: Our Q&A with Oklahoma Freshman Sensation Kendall Wells.... in 2024! (May 30, 2026)

This is Brentt Eads of Line Drive Softball.

What a year it’s been for freshman sensation Kendall Wells, the rookie catcher for the Oklahoma Sooners who had an amazing college debut with 39 home runs–a freshman record.

She needs a truck and trailer to haul around all the trophies and awards she’s received this year including:

  • NFCA Division I Freshman of the Year
  • SEC Freshman of the Year
  • 1st Team All-SEC
  • NFCA Catcher of the Year (also known as Diamond Sports/NFCA Catcher of the Year)
  • USA Today NCAA Softball All-American

She was also a Top 10 finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, an award that was won by Nebraska Cornhusker two-way senior standout Jordy Frahm.

A very happy Kendall back in June of 2024.
A very happy Kendall back in June of 2024.

For me, one of the best parts of the summer travel ball events getting to catch up with the wonderful student-athletes like Jordy, Kendall and the other greats we are fortunate to cover all year round.

At the 2024 PGF Show Me the Money tournament in Newberry, Fla., I had the fun opportunity to interview Kendall Wells, whom I had previously ranked as the No. 1 catcher in the Class of 2025 and the No. 4 overall prospect in the Line Drive HOT 100 rankings.

A prolific right-handed power hitter and strong force behind the plate as well as in the infielder, she earned Georgia Class 4A All-State honors last fall and was also tabbed as the Player of the Year in 4A.

In the middle of her season for North Oconee (Bogart, Ga.) High, she also made a big decision as Kendall committed to the Univ. of Oklahoma.

At that time, Kendall was getting ready to play at the PGF Nationals with her Georgia Impact team and participate in the PGF Futures All-American Game that that was played July 27th at Deanna Manning Stadium in Irvine, Calif. and aired on ESPN3.

Here’s a video Kendall hitting a home run at the PGF Show Me the Money tournament earlier that summer…

… and here’s the fun video interview I did with her:
