Line Drive Softball’s National High School Player of the Week (Feb. 25, 2025)

Each Tuesday for the next several months Line Drive Softball is honoring top high school performances nationwide with a National Player of the Week and others who are named Runner-Up Players of the Week.

Games are for Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025, through Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025

Line Drive Softball’s National High School Player of the Week (Feb. 25, 2025)
Molly Davi, a sophomore pitcher at Hilo High in Hawaii, pitched every inning of a six-game high school tournament which her team won.

*** Molly Davi a 2027 pitcher from Hilo (Hawaii) High, was sensational in the circle for her Vikings’ team as she pitched every inning in a six-game high school tournament.

In the half dozen wins, the best start in the school’s history, Molly struck out 63 opposing hitters with a 0.38 ERA against some of Hawaii’s best teams.

On the club side, Molly plays for Mojo Lewis lead by Coach Brittany Lewis and her pitching coach is Barb Sherwood

She already is receiving interest from top programs in the SEC and ACC as well as strong mid-major and private colleges. 

Molly is 4.0 student who is also an accomplished powerlifter having earned “Elite” classifications for her squat, bench, deadlift and total lifts.

Runner-Up Line Drive Softball National Players of the Week
Destiny Brashears holds the three home run balls she hit in one game.

*** Destiny Brashears a 5-foot-11 senior first baseman at Helena (Ala.) High, slugged three home runs in one game last week to help her Huskies team win in 10 innings against Pell City High.

The lefty hit .455 on the week with a .600 on-base percentage, a slugging mark of 1.273 and the three dingers.

Destiny is a multi-sport player and just completed her final season of prep basketball.

She has accumulated a 4.2 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, National English Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Rho Kappa, National Technical Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and Big Brother Big Sister Club.

Her future plans include furthering her academic and softball career at Marion Military Institute this coming fall, where she will be coached by Jeff Benson. She plans to graduate with an associate degree in Science then will transfer to get her doctorate degree in Biochemistry.

*** Kaylee Goodpaster, a junior centerfielder at North Bay Haven (Panama City, Fla.) High and a Florida State commit, was on fire last week, going 6-for-8 (.750 batting average) with two home runs including a grand slam, a double and two walks in 10 plate appearances.

The 2026 grad had an on-base percentage of .800 with an OPS of 2.42, a slugging percentage of .1625 in what was the opening week for her team coached by Butch Bernard.

Taelor Walker

*** Taelor Walker, a senior first baseman, outfield and catcher at Ayala (Chino Hills, Calif.) High helped her team win the Bonita Tournament Champions with four wins.

In those games, Taelor batted a smoking .733 with 11 hits in 16 plate appearances and hit a home run and six doubles with eight RBIs. Her on-base percentage was .750, her OPS was 2.083 and her slugging percentage at 1.333.

The Loyola Marymount signee is a three-time All-League player who has helped Ayala High take back-to-back Palomar League championships.

On the travel ball side helped her Corona Angels 18U – Tyson team finish 2nd at last year’s Alliance Nationals where she was also named to the All-Tournament team.

Emily Yoon

*** Emily Yoon, a freshman pitcher and utility player for El Dorado (Placentia, Calif.) High, was all but untouchable last week as she went 3-0 on the mound and had 28 K’s in 17.2 innings pitched.

A stellar student-athlete with 4.7 GPA, she didn’t allow an earned run for the week as she gave up just three hits and four walks for a .040 WHIP.

A standout on the club side too, she helped her BSC Bengals – Briggs team win the 10U and 12U PGF Premier Nationals Championships as well as a 12U title at Colorado Sparkler.

*** Caylee Barbe, a sophomore right-handed pitcher for Trinity Catholic (Ocala, Fla.) who also goes by “KK,” played five games last week in which she pitched 18 innings and had 35 strikeouts with a 0.78 ERA and a 0.722 WHIP.

She also shined at the plate with a .571 batting average, an on-base percentage of .625 and hit a home run, with four doubles and six runs driven in.

Sierra Cook

*** Sierra Cook, a junior third baseman and outfielder at William T. Dwyer High School in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., started off the first two games of the season for her Sunshine State team in mid-season form as she batted .429 with a .500 on-base percentage, a 1.786 OPS and a slugging mark of 1.286.

Offensively, she smacked two home runs, drove in six runs and stole two bases.

Interestingly, Sierra plays both her high school and club ball with Head Coach Matt Bodenheimer (on the EC Bullets 18U – Jackson travel squad).

Sierra was ranked No. 51 in the 2026 Line Drive Softball HOT 100 compiled last September and has quite the athletic resume, being named Florida 6A All-State last year and the 2024 Palm Beach County Player of the Year.

She also earned All-County honors in weightlifting.

Ava Phillips

*** Ava Phillips, a right-handed pitcher at Rosary Academy in Fullerton, Calif., had a great first week of her season.

The 2027 grad started three games and went 3-0 while also going 3-for-3 in save attempts. In 19.1 innings pitched, Ava gave up just one earned run to produce a 0.36 ERA, a 0.78 WHIP and had 13 strikeouts while opponents batted just .162 against her.

In addition to playing softball, Ava works as an instructor at The Range Pitching Academy in Anaheim, Calif., and provides individual pitching lessons to younger female athletes.

In her high school career, this is the second year she’s been the starting pitcher for her varsity team and last year helped the Rosary Royals to a 2nd place finish in the very strong Trinity League in Orange County. It was the school’s highest finish in the Trinity League over the last 10 years.

Off the softball field, Ava is an active member of the Girl Scouts of America and is currently working on her Gold Award (equivalent to the Eagle Scout). Her project is focused on developing a mental and physical skills training program for young female pitchers that can be universally administered and applied.    

Ciara Babock

*** Ciara Babcock, a sophomore outfielder and pitcher for Temescal Canyon (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) High played in three games and in six at bats had five hits for a .833 batting average, an OPS of 1.667 and added two steals.

Her great start has put her on the list of the CIF/MaxPreps leaderboard as she’s No. 1 in the Ivy League, No. 2 in Div. 2, No. 16 in the Southern Section (Southern California) and No. 21 overall in the state.

*** Madison Rider, a sophomore centerfielder and pitcher at Viera (Fla.) High, batted .778 last week with a home run, double, five singles, two walks and a stolen base.

In her first pair of games for the 2025 season, the 2027 grad had two put-outs on defense with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

Two years ago (2023), Madison won a PGF National Championship at 14U with the Tampa Mustangs coached by Rene Pynes.

Nomination Process

Each week during the spring and summer high school seasons, Line Drive Softball is honoring a National High School Player of the Week.

Honorees are announced every Tuesday and the cutoff for submitting the nominations is each Monday at noon EST/9 am PST.

We’re looking for standouts who excelled in the circle, at the plate or in the field so be sure to nominate your favorite performance(s) by submitting the following:

  • Player Name
  • Grad Year (example: Class of 2025 or Senior)
  • Position(s)
  • High school team name with city/state
  • Stats for the week (be as detailed as possible!)
  • Up-to-date season stats if possible
  • Recruiting information (if applicable)
  • Any interesting background on the player
  • Action and/or head shots
  • If possible, contact info if we’d like more info or quotes
