At just 16 years old, Rose Wendel is redefining what it means to live a balanced life. The 2027 standout infielder from Pennsylvania is a success story in that she is effectively balancing several areas in her life:
From coast to coast, court to classroom, and softball field to social life, Rose is proving that you really can do it all.
How?
With the right mindset, structure, and support…. here’s how she does it:

While most athletes commit to a single travel team, Rose takes on two nationally recognized softball programs: the Athletics Mercado National Showcase Team in Southern California and the Keystone State Bombers Gold out of Pennsylvania.
This past summer, she logged thousands of miles traveling between showcase tournaments, including playing in the East Coast Showcase, TNT, Colorado Sparkler and PGF Nationals in California
Despite the hectic schedule, her performance was nothing short of elite as she hit .571 in June and July and then improved upon that by batting .586 (17-for-29) in August.
Rose doesn’t just juggle travel logistics—she thrives in high-pressure environments and consistently delivers results at the plate.
Softball isn’t her only sport, however; Rose is also a standout tennis player at her high school—and a fierce competitor.
She’s the No. 1 doubles player and, last year, she won league and district, was named the team’s MVP and even placed 10th in the state!
Her tennis success is deeply rooted in her family story:
“I started playing tennis because of my dad—he played Division 1 tennis at the University of Washington,” Rose shares. “I basically grew up with a racket in my hand from the age of three. He taught me everything I know.”
Beyond competition, tennis offers balance and joy:
“It’s a fun way to socialize and be with friends. Plus, it really helps me stay in shape for softball too.”
Even with an elite athletic schedule, Rose holds herself to the highest academic standards.
She’s earned straight A’s in all Honors and AP classes and even used this summer’s travel time to study for the SAT—often flipping flashcards in airports and reading prep books on flights.
Her ability to thrive in academics while pursuing two varsity sports is rare—and intentional.
With so many responsibilities, people often ask how she manages it all. The answer? Intentional habits, daily discipline, and the ability to pause when needed.
“Most of my travel for softball happens during the summer, which helps me manage my schedule a bit better,” she explains.
“Both of my travel teams are flexible and supportive. They understand that I split my time and just want what’s best for me—I’m lucky to have that kind of support.”
Here are Rose’s 9 key tips to maintain balance in everything you do:
These aren’t just “tips,” Rose stresses. “They’re a mindset to help maintain excellence without losing joy.”

Despite the hectic schedule, Rose never loses sight of being a teenager.
“I love cheering under the lights at high school football games, hanging out with my friends and spending quiet time with my family,” she says.
These moments matter and the athlete is convinced they refuel her for whatever challenge lies ahead.
“It’s all about balance. If you manage your time and take care of yourself, there really is enough time to do it all.”
Rose Wendel’s story isn’t just about athletic talent or academic achievement—it’s about what she calls “intentional living.”
Through smart planning, self-awareness, and a strong support system, she’s built a life where excellence isn’t exhausting—it’s empowering.
Whether she’s racking up hits on the field, aces on the court, or getting “A’s” in the classroom, Rose Wendel is a model of what balance really looks like in a high-performing teen.
And her message to others like her?
“It can be done,” she concludes. “You just have to want to do it and plan to make it happen.”
