International News: USA Junior Women’s National Team Arrives in Italy for 2025 World Cup (June 23, 2025)

The following release was issued Monday morning by. USA Softball

MILAN, Italy — The U.S. U-15 Women’s National Team (WNT) has arrived in Milan, Italy ahead of the 2025 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup, set to take place June 27 – July 5.

The Eagles earned their spot in the 2025 World Cup following a dominant gold medal finish at the Pan American Championship earlier this year in Acapulco, Mexico.

With nine of the top 10 teams in the WBSC Women’s Softball World Rankings set to compete, Team USA will face strong international competition as they aim to bring home another gold medal for the United States after earning the world title in 2023.

Taking place in Legnano and Caronno Pertusella, Italy, the tournament features 12 teams divided into two groups:

Group A

  • American Samoa
  • Italy
  • Japan
  • Mexico
  • Puerto Rico
  • Spain

Group B

  • United States
  • Australia
  • Canada
  • Chinese Taipei
  • Czech Republic
  • Singapore

The Red, White and Blue will open the tournament on Friday, June 27 against Chinese Taipei at 3 p.m. CEST (8 a.m. CT) following a series of scheduled practices.

Fans can keep up with the excitement through the WBSC’s exclusive online GameTime video platform live stream day passes can be purchased for $9.99 and tournament passes can be purchased for $14.99.

A total of 12 athletes will return to the international stage after competing in the 2025 Pan American Championship where the Eagles posted a perfect 8-0 record enroute to the gold medal, outscoring opponents 90-2.

Four athletes — Braelyn Johnson, Lucy Reis, Audrey Riley and Makenzie Thomas — will each put on the Red, White and Blue for the first time in their careers.

The 16-player roster is a result of the USA Softball High Performance Program (HPP) – also known as the pipeline to the WNT.

Working its way through the selection process, the U-15 roster represents seven different regions across the U.S. with Region 5 (Texas, Okla.) highlighted by seven players, along with two athletes each from Region 2 (Va.) and Region 6 (Ill., Ky.).

Regions 1 (Penn.), 3 (N.C.), 4 (La.), and 10 (Ha.) are also represented by one athlete apiece.

Head Coach Kyla Holas

A part of the JWNT program since 2019, Kyla Holas will once again lead the U-15 squad, after previously leading the U-15 WNT to three gold medals during the 2023 season, including a remarkable 7-1 record at the WBSC U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup, where the Eagles claimed the top spot on the podium.

Additionally, Holas recently guided the U-15 squad to an undefeated 8-0 run at the 2025 Pan American Championship, securing a place in the 2025 WBSC U-15 World Cup.

Iyhia McMichael will coach alongside Holas in Italy after assisting at the 2023 WBSC U-15 World Cup, while Alisa Goler (AUSL Blaze head coach) will join the U-15 WNT staff for the first time after assisting with the U-18 WNT in 2024.
