Today was the day — the moment I had been working for, dreaming about and preparing for. Gold medal game day. I woke up at 8:30 a.m., knowing this was going to be the biggest game of my career so far. After breakfast, I took my time getting game-day ready, making sure everything felt right. Before we left, I wrote personal thank-you cards to all my coaches, just a small way to show my appreciation for everything they’ve done to get me to this point.

When we arrived at the field, I could feel the energy in the air. The moment became real when Coach Kyla (Holas) told me I’d be getting the start. That’s when the nerves hit, but so did the excitement. I reminded myself to trust my training, trust my team and just play the game I love.

Once I stepped into the circle, everything settled in. I locked in and went to work, throwing five innings, striking out three and allowing just three hits and no runs. The defense behind me was rock solid and our offense kept the pressure on. Maci Barnes came in to close it out and when we got that final out, it was official — gold medal champions.

We finished the game with a .417 team batting average, racking up 10 hits, five RBIs and three doubles. Every single player contributed to this moment and we ended the tournament undefeated at 8-0.

Then came the medal ceremony. Puerto Rico took bronze, Mexico silver and when it was our turn to step onto that podium for gold, it was surreal. Hearing our national anthem play and feeling that medal placed around my neck was a moment I’ll never forget.

After the ceremony, it was time to head back to the hotel for one last dinner, soaking in the game, the journey and the incredible opportunity to represent Team USA. It still didn’t feel real that we had just won gold. Now, it’s time to pack up and get ready to head back to Tennessee — taking memories, experiences and a gold medal with me.

We came here with a goal, to win the Gold Medal and we’re leaving as champions! Fly Eagles Fly!!
