I started my day bright and early at 5 a.m. After gearing up, I joined my teammates for breakfast, getting ready for an exciting game day. By 8 a.m, we headed to the field where we kicked off warm-ups before trying out at a new game called Hacky Sack — a fun and unexpected challenge while waiting to play our opponent Venezuela.

We clinched an impressive 15-0 victory over Venezuela, making our team 4-0 on the week. The game was highlighted by standout performances: my teammate Ansley Johnson got the start in the circle, throwing three innings with four strikeouts and allowing no hits, while our batting lineup batted a .448. My teammate Allison Eiccholz powered two home runs. As a team, we had 13 RBIs, 13 hits and to home runs.

After the game, we headed back to our hotel. It’s pretty crazy, we feel like celebrities getting off the bus. All the locals love to take pictures with us and of us, along with videos when (we) are getting on and off the bus. Once off the bus, I turned in my uniforms to be washed. I then got to try a new Italian restaurant called Forza Italia before wandering through local shops and taking in unique finds.

Once we headed back to the hotel, Coach Kyla (Holas of Texas) bought us all ice cream as part of her tradition for winning our pool and we enjoyed hanging out around the pool — a refreshing celebration of our hard work.

As the day wound down, I got to play catch on the beach and layed by the pool where I relaxed with a book that I have to read for school. That peaceful moment marked the end of a fulfilling day and as night fell, I retired to my room to stretch and get ready for tomorrow’s game at 3:30 Central Time .. opponent TBD.
