Despite the seasons being over in places like Texas, Florida, Alabama and for some of the top teams in California, there were still plenty of changes in the next to last SUPER 70 national high school softball rankings of the 2025 season.
The season was over in California for teams that opted out of the CIF regional championships, particularly CIF Southern Section D1 champion Norco.
The Cougars had assured their top ranking for California based on other results leading into the regionals and will have a number of leading players returning next season, including sophomore pitcher Coral Williams and junior pitcher Peyton May.
CIF Northern California D1 champion Del Oro of Loomis still wound up with a claim to be top-ranked in the entire state after it defeated league rival Oak Ridge of El Dorado Hills, 5-3, last Saturday at Oak Ridge.
The Golden Eagles finished 31-2 with both of their losses coming to Oak Ridge. They also defeated the Trojans twice. Norco had to move up higher after the CIF section finals, however, since Del Oro lost to Oak Ridge in its section championship.
Freshman Caelyn Campos slapped three doubles to lead Del Oro vs. Oak Ridge. Kate Brown also had a two-run double in the first inning.
For this week’s SUPER 70, Del Oro moved up to Oak Ridge’s previous position of No. 6 while the Trojans dropped down outside the top 10. They will be sitting at No. 11 with one more set of rankings to go.

The other big change that involved a top 10 team from last week losing was in Illinois.
Previous No. 9 Lincoln-Way Central was upset by Lockport in its super sectional final and will not be going to this week’s IHSA state finals. Previous No. 18 Marist of Chicago isn’t going, either, after it lost to Oswego, 5-1, in the super sectionals.
Oswego’s Jaelynn Anthony came within one strike of throwing a no-hitter in that game. Kiyah Chavez had an RBI double and she circled the bases for a run after a hard-hit line drive to the outfield was misplayed and then there was a throwing error.
Oswego improved to 36-2 after the win and will head to the state tourney with a chance to finish even higher than No. 12 in the final national rankings.

Another Midwest team besides Oswego of Illinois getting a big boost this week would be Kenton Ridge of Springfield, Ohio.
The Cougars won their first state title with a 9-0 win in the D4 championship game over Hillsboro. They also completed a 32-0 record with one of those earlier wins turning out to be a big one over Lebanon. That is the team that won the Ohio D1 state championship.
The Class 4A state championship in Indiana is today (Friday, June 13th) and will match No. 38 Crown Point and new No. 40 Center Grove of Greenwood.
Also, the New Jersey Non-Public A state final between No. 25 Donovan Catholic of Toms River and 50-70 team Mt. St. Dominic of Caldwell was played on Wednesday night and will be accounted for in the final rankings.

Other states with championships still to be determined include New York, Connecticut, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan.
IMPORTANT NOTE: a final run through of every state also will be conducted for the final rankings that will be compiled and published on Monday, June 23.
