Margaret “Maggie” is a rare gem in the softball world, being a true utility. She can successfully execute all positions on the field and “has been an outstanding leader on our roster,” according to her club coach.
The 2020 grad has hit multiple over the fence home runs as she bats for power and boasts quick hands.
In the circle, Maggie has reached impressive speeds for her age, throwing a consistent average of 57-to-58 mph with a change-up of 42-to-43 mph.
Coach Trahan adds:
“Maggie’s athleticism and work ethic are unmatched. Whether she’s holding a softball or training in the fields of speed and agility and weightlifting, Maggie continues to turn heads across the Southeast. She’s the type of player who wants the ball, she does not back down from a challenge, and she is a strong competitor.”
“Maggie’s leadership skills are also commendable; she has a way to bring our team together when that unity is most needed, and she has a spirit about herself that the girls look up to.
“Her control and accuracy while pitching has been crucial in reinforcing our team’s defense,” says Coach Trahan.
Maggie is also a phenomenal student-athlete who is known in her school for stepping up and helping her classmates. Her teacher Mrs. Youngblood states “Maggie is a wonderful student who can be depended on to always do the right thing.”
Coach Chad Strahan:
“Maggie’s siblings have become her mentors, along with many other female athletes, which has provided a drive in Maggie to excel. She has understood since she was young what it takes to play at a high level.”
“Maggie is always working to get better and is extremely coachable. She has a special love for animals, helping others and putting her problem-solving skills to work in challenging games and tasks.”
