The temperatures in Florida were high on Thursday (95 degrees), but so was the talent at the first day of play at the PGF Show Me The Money event.
The first of four days of competition in Newberry, Fla. featured 126 teams from all over the nation—as far away as California and Arizona—competing in two pool play games to determine matchups for Friday’s first day of bracket play.

Here are some of the players who on Day 1 had impressive performances:
* In its two games on Thursday, Mattingly Klein of Tampa Mustangs – Balavender/Klein 09 saw Mattingly Klein and Addison Bell each hit .667
— Klein went 2-for-3 with a single, triple and RBI while Bell went 2-for-3 as well.
— In the circle, Ding Balavender tossed five innings and struck out nine.

* SoCal – Kennedy saw Hannah Isham bat .500 with a .600 OBP, going 2-4 and teammate Ally Brady went 3-for-6 (.500) with a .571 OBP.
Ella Robertson hit .429 as well.
According to Coach Joel Kennedy: “All had stellar performances in the field as well. Isham had a spectacular diving catch in left field too.

* Kendall Frost, an East Carolina signee, pitched seven shutout innings for the EC Bullets – Schnute 18U team and Jaci Underwood, headed to Jacksonville State, was the offensive star going 4-for-5 with two doubles, a pair of RBIs and a steal.

* Bob Turner’s Top Gun 18U team had several standouts, going 2-0 for the day and giving up just three runs in its two wins:
— 2025 RHP Kenna Moore (uncommitted) pitched 3 innings with eight strikeouts and no runs allowed
— 2024 RHP Kennedy Diggs (Kansas) pitched five innings with seven K’s and one earned run
— 2024 C Sophia Camacho (Florida Atlantic) batted 1.000 with a triple and two RBIs
— 2024 UT Nat Kenyatta (Michigan State) hit .6667 with a .750 OBP and scored a run
— 2024 MIF Abigail Wilhelm (Mizzou) batted .500 with a .667 OBP and had a triple and RBI
