This is a big weekend for many top pre-college softball players as they’re in the Sunshine State to participate in the USA Softball HPP (High Performance Program) National Selection Event presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods.

Taking place at the Jackie Robinson Training Center in Vero Beach, Fla., the HPP program is called “The Pipeline to the Women’s National Teamand is a great tool used by softball’s governing body to identify promising young athletes who can get the best training and competition—both in the United State and abroad—to prepare to represent the Red, White & Blue.

The event features more than 400 registered athletes from 44 states representing the 12U, 13U, 14U, 15U, 16U, and 17U age groups competing for the chance to compete on a Junior Women’s National Team roster.

“The athletes participating this week have reached an incredible milestone in their softball journeys,” said USA Softball Chief Sport Development/Performance Officer, Chris Sebren.

“After advancing from a local identifier, they’ve arrived in Florida to face the nation’s top talent.”

“This is their moment to stand out as Top Performers and fight for a spot on a Junior Women’s National Team roster—a thrilling challenge that pushes them to give everything they’ve got.”

As defined by USA Softball on its website, here’s what it says about the Selection Event:

The High Performance Program National Selection Event is an invite-only opportunity for athletes who have advanced through various HPP Identifiers over the last year.

These top-players will showcase their skills in a series of on-field evaluations and scrimmages in front of the U.S. Junior Women’s National Team Selection Committee and HPP evaluators — including U.S. Olympians and professional softball athletes — for a chance to be selected to age-specific U.S. Junior Women’s National Team rosters based on scheduled events for the 2026 season.

Over the past year, select athletes have advanced through various local HPP Identifiers and earned invitations to this weekend’s event.

From this group—along with additional athletes identified by the Junior Women’s National Team Selection Committee (JWNTSC)—USA Softball will select rosters to represent the U.S. at upcoming domestic and international events, including:

  • the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-18 Women’s World Cup Group Stage Event,
  • a Top Performers Camp in Oklahoma City, Okla., in June.
