#2 Texas Bombers Gold-Malpass 7, Unity-Johnson 6: 2029 OF Courtney Latronico went 3 for 4 to help the Bombers defeat the Unity in Game 2 to clinch the AFCS 14U Tier 1 national championship on Thursday in Kokomo, IN.
The Bombers have been to the national championship series three times in the past four years and have won national title in 2022, 2024 and 2025. Unity was making its first appearance in the national championship series.
Latronico had two triples, scored twice and drove in three runs, 2028 C Meah Martinez went 2 for 3 with two runs and 2028 SS Michaela Landers, #4 in the 2028 Line Drive Hot 100, went 1 or 4 with two RBIs to lead the Bombers’ offense.
“We’ve worked so hard as a team all year,” Latronico said on Twitter. “Coach Kristi (Malpass) and Coach Mark (Vasquez) have pushed us to be the best version of ourselves that we can be. I’ll forever be grateful for the opportunities that I’ve gotten. It feels great to bring it back to Texas!!”
2028 C Lanie Keefer, #7 in the 2028 Line Drive Hot 100, went 1 for 3 with two RBIs and 2028 LF Adair Amsler, #29 in the 2028 Line Drive Hot 100, went 2 for 3 to pace the Unity.
