As part of the 2024 Top Gun Invitational in the Kansas City area, the prestigious event kicked off with the Top Gun Invitational National Elite Showcase, a one-day testing and softball skills camp where over 150 players from 32 states participated.
At the Mid-American Complex in Shawnee, Kansas, the athletes had a full day starting at 8 am and working out until 4 pm.

The attendees represented the 2025, ’26 and ’27 classes and were tested in the following drills:
One standout in the Speed Drills was Jacie Kassanavoid, a 2027 outfielder with the Originals club team. She placed 1st in the home to 1st drill and 40 yard dash while coming in 4th in the 5-10-5 shuttle drill and 7th in the 10 yard split.
The travel ball players also participated in position specific drills before wrapping up the day with simulated games.
One of the highlights in the games was 2026 infielder Briley Henry of Top Gun from Owenboro, Ky. who hit a 3-run home run.
Peyton Tsao, a 2027 middle infielder for Firecrackers – Leles, a travel ball team out of Northern California, spoke for many when she said:
“I like the competition and how hard everyone here is competing,” she explained. “It’s really fun to play with other people from around the country; I’ve met people from my area of California as well as those from all over.”
