“This was the first goal we wanted to accomplish on our summer season journey,” Texas Bombers Gold coach Dale Serie said.

14U: TEXAS BOMBERS GOLD-MALPASS 8, IMPACT GOLD NATIONAL 2029-HOLMES 4

#2 Texas Bombers Gold-Malpass, the defending 14U Alliance national champion, knocked off #25 Impact Gold National 2029-Holmes, 8-4, in the 14U championship game of the TFL Summer Championship on Sunday at Cottonwood.

2029 1B/C Jilly Gonzales (.636 AVG, .714 OBP, 1.714 OPS), 2029 MIF/OF/UT Kimber Fuessel (.545 AVG, 1.220 OPS) and 2029 1b/LHP/OF Alex Wiatrek (.455 AVG, 1.045 OPS) helped lead the Texas Bombers Gold-Malpass’ offense.

In the circle, 2029, 1B/RHP Regan Christopherson and 2029 RHP Brynli Reynolds set the tone for a dominant pitching staff. Christopherson logged a team-high 8.0 innings, posting a 0.875 ERA, a 0.375 WHIP, and held opposing hitters to a .120 batting average. Reynolds was equally impressive, compiling a 0.000 ERA while limiting opponents to a .083 batting average. As a staff, the Bombers finished the tournament with a 1.40 ERA and 0.960 WHIP, consistently keeping opposing offenses off balance and giving the team a chance to win every game.

“Winning is great, but it wasn’t everything for us this weekend,” Texas Bombers coach Kristi Malpass said.

“More importantly, we experienced pressure, fatigue and adversity for the first time this summer. With rain keeping us from championship Sunday so far, those challenges were exactly what we needed to continue growing and preparing for the big part of the summer.”

#2 Texas Bombers Gold-Malpass defeated Texas Blaze ATX-Prochaska, 4-1, Glory Adkins Gold, 7-1, #21 Athletics Mercado 2029-Christie/Zito, 6-3, and #25 Impact Gold National 2029-Holmes, 8-4, in Lone Star bracket games.
