Event Recap: 18U/16U/14U Champions Crowned at Triple Crown Arizona Fall Showcase Road to the Rockies (Nov. 2, 2025)

Triple Crown Arizona all Showcase was held Oct. 31-Nov. 2 in Gilbert/Mesa/Fountain Hills, AZ:

*****

18U: ARIZONA RISING-WESTOVER 5, TEAM HUSTLE-LADRIGUE 2

Arizona Rising-Westover pulled out a 5-2 victory over Team Hustle-LaDrigue in the 18U championship game on Sunday at Cactus Yard DBacks Field.

Arizona Rising-Westover received a paid entry to the National Power Pool at the Triple Crown Colorado 4th of July for winning the Road to the Rockies.

Utah Tech-committed 2027 SS/3B/UT Madilyn Lowy, 2026 OF/2B Kara Espino and 2027 P/UT Daisy Herrera combined on six of the team’s 10 hits to lead Arizona Rising-Westover in the championship game.

Espino (.571 AVG, 7 RBIs), 2026 C/1B Natalie Holzer (.500 AVG, 9 RBIs), Utah State-committed 2026 SS/IF Anaya Romero (.474 AVG), Western New Mexico-committed 2026 IF/OF Brooke Downs (.429 AVG), Nevada-committed 2026 P Kylie Bristol (0.00 ERA, 12 Ks), San Diego-committed 2027 P Lilly Hamel (0.88 ERA, 12 Ks) were the leaders for Arizona Rising-Westover.

“I’m most proud my girls are getting closer to each other,” Arizona Rising coach Rob Westover said. “This team is full of talented athletes, but what’s most important to me is the team is really starting to jell well. The closer we are as a team, the more dangerous we are as a whole. Even the girls that didn’t get to see the time on the field as much as others played a big role this weekend. We have a very strong pitching staff and some pretty darn good hitters. Our defense, as a whole, was really strong. Our fielding percentage wasn’t to shabby with .939 and we outscored our opponents 45 runs to 8 runs allowed.”

Arizona Rising-Westover defeated Washington Ladyhawks-Seeley, 14-0, Firecrackers AZ-Finn, 8-0, Colorado Angels Gold-Quimby/Becker, 4-2, and Team Hustle=-LaDrigue, 5-2, in bracket games.

Team Hustle-LaDrigue defeated NW Bullets-Qualls, 5-0, Firecrackers ELP-Muniz/Gardea, 7-1, Rogue FC-Kaye Black, 5-2, and lost to Arizona Rising-Westover, 5-2, in bracket games.

“As a team, we hit over .500 for the weekend,” Arizona Rising coach Todd Mabrey said. “(We) scored 91 runs and gave up 10. It’s hard to pick a lineup when all the girls are hitting and can play multiple positions. We played some good teams Sunday and I’m proud of the way they showed up. Team Hustle, (Arizona) Storm-Beach and (Arizona) Rising-Lopez all gave us a challenge. All three of them could have won it all.
