Auburn-committed 2026 MIF Peyton Valentine came through with a two-run home run in the bottom of the 6th inning to give #4 Arizona Rising-Appel a 3-1 walk-off victory over #21 BSC Bengals-Briggs in the 18U championship game of PGF June Premier Invitational on Monday at OC Great Park.
Northwestern-committed 2026 LHP Lilly “Goose” Goodwin gave up two hits and one run with eight strikeouts in 6.0 innings to record the victory for Arizona Rising-Appel.
“This was a big weekend,” Arizona Rising coach Steve Appel said. “We were missing three kids due to injuries, but the team in its first action since high school went 8-0, facing some of the best competition on the West Coast. We have plans to compete for a PGF national championship and this first event out of the gate showed a lot of good things, but it also showed we have work. Tonight there are so many talented teams, nothing will be easy, but in our first year as a new org we have competed toe-to-toe with the best. Excited to see how the rest of the summer plays out.”
Arizona Rising-Appel defeated #7 Arizona Storm National-Mathis, 7-0, #29 So Cal Athletics-Richardson, 1-0, Suncats Jimenez 5-2, and BSC Bengals-Briggs, 3-1, in bracket games.
BSC Bengals-Briggs beat So Cal Sting-UNO, 14-0, #44 Breakers Labs Gold-Bobby, 8-1, #1 Athletics Mercado-Smith, 2-1, and lost to Arizona Rising-Appel, 3-1, in bracket games.

16U: NW BULLETS-DAWSON/MUIR 2, ATHLETICS MERCADO-HOVERMALE/TIDD 1
#42 NW Bullets-Dawson/Muir scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to upset #1 Athletics Mercado-Hovermale/Tidd, 2-1, in the 16U championship game of PGF Junior Premier Invitational on Monday at OC Great Park.
2028 RHP Sierra Murray allowed three hits and struck out two in 2.0 innings and 2028 LHP Ali Evans allowed five hits, one run and struck out eight in 5.0 innings to combine for the victory for the NW Bullets.
“Great start to the summer for the Bullets!” NW Bullets Mariah Dawson said. “While we are a young team, we showcased our grit and competitive spirit! We’re proud to wear the Bullets name and compete at the highest level. It was a great game against a great opponent in (Athletics Mercado 2010-Tidd).”
NW Bullets-Dawson/Muir beat #36 Cal Nuggets-Woods, 8-0, Beverly Bandits Premier-Kam, 4-2, #12 Extreme-Rios, 7-0, and Athletics Mercado-Tidd/Hovermale, 2-1, in bracket games.
Athletics Mercado-Hovermale/Tidd defeated Arizona Rising-Appel/Kobasew, 2-0, #40 BSC Bengals-R. Briggs, 4-1, Central Cal Dirtdogs-Vasquez/FNG, 7-0, #14 Arizona Storm-Mendez, 6-5, and lost to NW Bullets-Dawson/Muir, 2-1, in bracket games.

14U: WILDCATS-HOLCOMB/KNIGHT 5, ATHLETICS MERCADO 2010-TIDD 4
2028 C Magnolia Okamoto delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the 8th inning to help #5 Wildcats-Holcomb/Knight knock off #1 Athletics Mercado 2010-Tidd in the 14U championship game of PGF June Premier Invitational on Monday at Peralta Park.
2028 P Rylee Silva went the distance, allowing eight hits, four runs and striking out five in 8.0 innings to record the win.
2028 2B Aspen Natori and 2028 CF Ryann Velazquez had multiple-hit games for the Wildcats. 2028 SS Sophia Hernandez, 2028 C Laney Sweeney and 2029 1B Paityn Miller had two hits apiece for Athletics Mercado.
“It seems like it’s always us and Mercado-Tidd and the championship games of these tournaments,” Wildcats coach Ted Holcomb said. “He has gotten the best of us the last couple times, but our team has come a long way and went toe-to-toe with the #1-ranked team and never gave up. They are a very talented team loaded with great players so for our little scrappy bunch to beat them was amazing and the $5,000 was pretty cool too.”
Wildcats-Holcomb/Knight beat #50 Extreme-Woofter, 10-2, #31 Warrior Academy-McDonald, 3-2, #33 Cal Nuggets-Woods, 5-1, and Athletics Mercado 2010-Tidd, 5-4, in bracket games.
Athletics Mercado 2010-Tidd defeated So Cal Athletics-Aikey, 8-0, Ohana Tigers-Quarles, 16-0, #40 BSC Bengals-R. Briggs, 14-1, #48 LTG Lions-Carda/Pettis, 5-0, and lost to Wildcats-Holcomb/Knight, 5-4, in bracket games.
