18U: OC BATBUSTERS-STITH, OC BATBUSTERS-STITH/MAROON SHARE 18U TITLE

OC Batbusters-Stith and OC Batbusters-Stith/Maroon both reached the 18U championship of the Triple Crown/Firecrackers Big League Dreams Invitational on Sunday night at Fountain Valley Sports Park, but they decided not to play the final and finished as co-champions.

“We’re from the same organization and we play each other all the time so we decided to be co-champions,” Batbusters coach Mike Stith said.

Pitching is the strength of Stith’s top Batbusters’ squad and they didn’t even have Oklahoma-committed 2025 RHP Sophia Bordi and Arkansas-committed 2025 RHP Saylor Timmerman with them.

“The pitchers (uncommitted 2026 RHP Liliana Escobar, 2027 RHP Abby Ford and Arizona-committed 2026 RHP Lilly Hauser) threw well,” Stith said. “I think all of them did well. (2027 RF) Mattea Stern and (2027 C) Riley Hilliard had some good hits. (2027 3B) Maya Matthies had a home run and had a great tournament. She’s a good player.

“We can pitch. We’re deep in pitching. We have a lot to figure out. We’re young. We have some seniors, but we’re real deep in sophomores. We got some depth. We’re young and building in the hitting department.”

Timmerman and Bordi will add even more depth and experience to the pitching staff when they join the team for the Arizona Fall Invitational, a Team New Jersey event, Nov. 1-3 in Scottsdale, AZ.

Stith said his organization will be hosting a major event, the Summer Games, in July in Oklahoma City, OK.
