Event Recap: 14U/12U Champs Crowned at AZ Power 48 (Feb. 16, 2026)

AZ Power 48 was held Feb. 14-16 in Queens Creek, AZ:

14U: ARIZONA STORM-POMEROY 7, SO CAL CHOPPERS-FAUSETT 0

2030 P/OF Sloane Hjermstad threw a three-hit shutout with six strikeouts in six innings to lead Arizona Storm-Pomeroy to a 7-0 win over So Cal Choppers-Fausett in the 14U championship game of the AZ Power 48 on Monday at Frontier Family Park.

2030 P/1B/3B Chloe Elliott (.556 AVG, 2 HRs, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 13 RBIs, 2.50 ERA, 14 IP, 4-0, 18 Ks), Hjermstad (.375 AVG, 2 doubles, 1 HR, 6 RBIs, 0.00 ERA, 19 IP, 26 Ks), 2030 OF Kenna Lopez (.800 SLG) and 2030 OF/P Gianna Villasenor (.445 AVG, 9 runs) led Arizona Storm-Pomeroy throughout the tournament.

“This win means a lot since we just put this team together for the spring,” Arizona Storm coach Kailey Pomeroy said. “We had three practices going into this tournament. Definitely have some work to do, but we really wanted to focus on reps for every player for this spring.”

Arizona Storm-Pomeroy defeated SFC Wild, 12-0, Arizona Storm-Beach/Day, 7-1, NW Bullets 2012, 6-4, Washington Ladyhawks-Matlick, 8-3, and So Cal Choppers-Fausett, 7-0, in bracket games.

So Cal Choppers-Fausett beat TN Mojo-Ramsey/Morales, 10-1, New Level National-Tyree, 5-4, lost to Washington Ladyhawks-Matlick, 3-2, beat Washington Ladyhawks-Apel, 8-7, NW Bullets 2012, 11-5, Washington Ladyhawks-Matlick, 5-3, and lost to Arizona Storm-Pomeroy, 7-0, in bracket games.

12U: ARIZONA RISING 2031 10, EXPLOSION-KIM/OKOMOTO 8

Arizona Rising 2031 beat Explosion-Kim/Okomoto, 10-8, in the 12U championship game of the AZ Power 48 on Monday at Frontier Family Park.

2031 MIF/OF Aubrey Ojea (.667 AVG, 6 singles, 1 double, 2 triples, 1 HR), 2031 OF/MIF Kendall Grammer (.550 AVG, 6 singles, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 1 HR), 2031 C/MIF Kayliana Ruiz-Velasco (.438 AVG, 5 singles, 1 double, 1 triple, 6 RBIs) and 2031 1B/OF Sutton Crossley (.429 AVG, 4 singles, 1 double, 1 HR, 9 RBIs) led Arizona Rising 2031 throughout the tournament.

“Winning this tournament meant everything to our team,” Arizona Rising coach Javier Munoz said. “It wasn’t just about the trophy — it was proof that the hard work, practices and constant encouragement paid off. The girls showed grit, teamwork and heart, and they believed in each other when it mattered most. This win built confidence, strengthened our bond as a team and reminded us that when we play for one another and never give up, amazing things can happen.”

Arizona Rising 2031 defeated Arizona Storm-Rodriguez, 2-0, Athletics Mercado-Garcia/Carvalho, 7-2, Explosion-Kim/Okomoto, 10-3, Arizona Rising 2032-Hatch, 8-1, and Explosion-Kim/Okomoto, 10-8, in bracket games.

Explosion-Kim/Okomoto beat USA Premier 2031, 11-3, I-5 Banbrook/Pugliese, 8-0, lost to Arizona Rising 2031, 10-3, beat I-5 Banbrook Premier, 6-2, I-5 Banbrook/Pugliese, 11-0, Arizona Rising 2032-Hatch, 6-3, and lost to Arizona Rising 2031, 10-8, in bracket games.
