12U: FIRECRACKERS BRASHEAR-THORNBURG 9, CROSSFIRE FASTPITCH-DOWLING 1

Firecrackers Brashear-Thornburg cruised to a 9-1 victory over Crossfire Fastpitch-Dowling in the 12U championship game of the Triple Crown Big League Dreams Tournament on Sunday at Fountain Valley Sports Park.

“Really proud of this team,” Firecrackers coach Roman Gallegos said. “We played a (Triple Crown) tournament a couple (of) weeks ago and made an early exit and the girls weren’t satisfied with that. So they worked harder to get better. Going into the weekend we had standout 2030 pitcher Reagan Harps, (who) was in the ER with the flu, and Friday night 2031 OF Brielle Huntley found herself in the ER with a splint on her arm for an injury, but both of those girls are tough as nails and both played this weekend.

Young (.562 AVG), 2030 C/3B Victoria Velasquez (7 RBIs) and 2030 C/3B Dalia Medrano (.372 AVG, 6 RBIs) led the offense for the Firecrackers.
