The PGF Super Select Southern Championships was held May 10-12 in Gardendale/Hoover, AL.
In 14U Platinum:
EC Bullets ’10-Martin came out of the loser’s bracket and avenged its loss to Atlanta Vipers ’10-Lynch with a 4-2 win in the 14U Platinum final of the PGF Super Select Southern Championships on Sunday at Bill Noble Park.
2028 OF/UT Nora Hillmer went 3 for 4 and 2028 1B/OF Julianna McNeely went 2 for 3 for Bullets-Martin in the championship game.
Bullets-Martin went 6-2 in the tournament, beating AL Firecrackers 2028, 5-4, EC Bullets ’10-Ellis, 7-0, So Cal Athletics ’10-Marinakis/Justice, 2-0, and losing to Atlanta Vipers ’10-Lynch, 4-1, before defeating LA Bombers ’10-Nobles, 5-2, and Atlanta Vipers ’10-Lynch, 4-2, in bracket play.
McNeely batted .556 with a 1.167 OPS, 2028 MIF Taylor Sawyer batted .444 with a 1.079 OPS and Hillmer batted .444 with a 1.085 OPS to lead Bolts-Martin in the tournament. The pitching staff was led by 2028 P Presley Crabbe, who went 2-0, only gave up three hits to 41 batters faced, zero earned runs one walk and eight strikeouts with a .386 WHIP, and 2028 P Dakota McDaniel, who went 2-1, giving up 10 hits to 65 batters faced, four earned runs, four walks and 18 strikeouts with a .824 WHIP.
In 12U Premier:
Impact Gold National 2029-Holmes came out of the loser’s bracket and avenged its lone loss with a 6-1 victory over Georgia Impact ’11-Cleghorn, 6-1, in the 12U Premier final of the PGF Super Select Championships on Sunday at Bill Noble Park.
2029 3B Trinity Hargrett went 3 for 3, 2029 CF Emiry Jeane went 2 for 2, 2029 2B Analiese Holmes went 1 for 2 with a walk, 2029 C Ella McConnell went 1 for 2 with a walk and 2029 LF Sophie Hagan went 1 for 3 for IG-Holmes in the championship game. 2029 P Ansley Johnson allowed four hits and one earned run and struck out six for IG-Holmes in the final.
IG-Holmes went 6-1-1 in the tournament, beating AP Elite ’11-Bass, 10-0, Carolina Cardinals 2K11 National, 5-0, TN Mojo ’11-Brown, 1-0, and lost to Georgia Impact ’11-Cleghorn, 4-2, before defeating Atlanta Vipers ’11-Murphy, 6-0, and Georgia Impact ’11-Cleghorn, 6-1, in bracket play.
Johnson went 4-0 with 48Ks in 26.0 innings and 2030 P Aubree Kitterman went 2-1 with 24 Ks in 15 innings and a no-hitter to lead IG-Holmes for the tournament.
In 12U Platinum:
Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier 2030-Wilkerson beat Kentucky Chrome Premier ’12 twice in bracket play, including a 4-1 win in the 12U Platinum championship of the PGF Super Select Southern Championships on Sunday at Hoover Met Complex.
2030 P Aaliyah Hayes went 2 for 2 and struck out six of the 16 batters she faced, 2030 P Naomi Avila went 1 for 2 with an RBI and 2030 2B Ansley Wilkerson went 1 for 2 with an RBI for Bolts-Wilkerson in the final.
Bolts-Wilkerson went 7-0 in the tournament, defeating AP Gold ’12, 4-0, Gametime Gold VS12, 3-0, Kentucky Chrome Premier ’12, 11-1, GA Power ’12-Chapman, 5-0, and Kentucky Chrome Premier ’12, 4-1, in bracket play.
Wilkerson, who was 10 for 10 in putouts, batted .500 with a .615 OBP, two RBIs and two SBs, 2030 SS Ro Wilson batted .400 with a .500 UBP, dour RBIs and four SBs, Hayes had a 0.00 ERA and struck out 35 of the 79 batters she faced and Avila had a 0.00 ERA and struck out seven of the 35 batters she faced for the tournament o lead the Bolts-Wilkerson.
10U Premier:
Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier 2031-Tennyson beat Kentucky Chrome Premier ’13, 2-0, in the 10 Premier final of the PGF Super Select Southern Championships on Sunday at Hoover Met Complex.
2031 P/1B Ivy Adams gave up three hits, zero uns and struck out seven in sig innings to record the win for the Aces in the championship game. 2-31 1B Daney Matherson and 2032 3B Kinley Rasmus led the offense with two hits apiece, while 2021 RF Avery Kate Wangaard and Matherson each drove in a run.
Bolts-Tennyson went 6-2 in the tournament, beating GA Thunderbolts 2K13-Thompson, 12-6, Atlanta Vipers ’13-Martinez, 11-2, TN Mojo 2031-Hawkes, 13-0, Kentucky Chrome Premier ’13, 3-1, Birmingham Mustangs 2031, 4-2, and Kentucky Chrome Premier ’13, 2-0, in bracket play.
Adams (.476 AVG, .500 OBP), Matherson (.474 AVG, ,545 OBP) and Rasmus (.409 AVG, .409 OBP) were Bolts-Tennyson’s leading hitters for the tournament.
