Event News: PGF Georgia Oaks Crowns 16U, 14U and 12U Champions (April 21, 2024)

The PGF Georgia Oaks Tournament was held Saturday-Sunday in Dallas/Dalton/Rocky Face, GA:

In 16U:

AP Gold 08-Stewart picked up an 8-4 victory over Frost Falcons 09 in the 16U championship game on Sunday at Heritage Point Park in Dalton, GA.

AP Gold-Stewart went 7-1 for the tournament and defeated Georgia Impact 08-Pritchett, 13-1, Marucci SE -0, 15-3, EC Bullets 2025-Davis, 6-4, Athletics Gold-Tamborra/Hamilton, 6-1, Frost Falcons 09, 8-4, in bracket games.

2026 C/3B Sophia Arnold, 2026 MIF/P Kylee Simmons and 2026 OF/MIF Liliana Rodriguez all hit above .500, 2026 3B/C Kyla Head, 2026 MIF/C Charlotte Keib, 2027 1B Sophia Kirby and 2027 P Blakely Stewart all hit above .400 and the team hit 14 home runs, including three apiece from Keib and Arnold, to lead the offense for the tournament.

All three pitchers did well, led by Stewart, who had a team-high 14 strikeouts with only four walks. Newcomer 2026 P Kate Lott went 3-0 and pitched 17 innings.

2025 OF Haley Crenshaw led team in stolen bases, 2025 C Bitsey Hartsfield threw several runners out at catcher and the team turned seven double plays.

“We had two girls at prom and our No. 4 hitter, (2026 CF/C) Catee Maddox, came up sick, so we lost her halfway through the tournament,” AP Gold coach Jon Stewart said. “It was a new hero every game and a complete team effort. This team just fights hard every game and does what it takes to win. (It’s a) selfless group of girls.”
