The Canadian Elite Softball Camp—which began on Tuesday in the Ontario, Toronto area with 100 players from all over the country—reached the mid-way point on Wednesday with more position drills and instruction plus class seminars on topics including Nutrition and Recruiting.

Camp Staff Spotlight: Mizzou’s Jana Want… An All-Conference Infielder Transferred Into the SEC

The quality of staff members at the Canadian Elite Softball Camp is impressive, to say the least, and current D1 players at major programs such as LSU, Liberty, Ole Miss, Boston College and former players at Tennessee and Kennesaw State.

On Wednesday, Line Drive’s Brentt Eads had a chance to catch up with Jana Want, a junior infielder who transferred from Middle Tennessee State to Missouri this year.

At MTSU as a freshman in 2025, Jana was the Conference USA Freshman of the Year and was named 1^st Team All-Conference. She came back this spring to once again earn All-Conference recognition (2^nd Team) and was also on the CUSA Commissioner’s Honor Roll and Academic Medal List.

In her two years with the Raiders, Jana put up strong numbers: a cumulative .325 batting average with 96 hits, 15 home runs and 64 RBIs.

This week’s Canadian Elite Softball Camp holds special significance for Jana as she’s from Stoney Creek, Ontario and is excited to see the sport continue to grow in the area she’s from.

Camp Sponsor Mizuno… On Being Involved

On Tuesday, we introduced you to Mizuno Canada Field Marketing Manager Megan Wiedekowsky and on Wednesday another special guest from Mizuno, the camp’s sponsor, took time to explain what the Japan-based company with a strong presence in North America is doing.

Meet Adam Vella, a global product designer for Mizuno whose official title is “Product Manager, Mizuno North America Ball Gloves and Footwear.”

Adam is well versed in what the sports equipment world leader is doing with gloves and bats and actually flies to Atlanta regularly to be part of meetings covering what’s going in Canada and the U.S. involving gloves and bats in particular.

Campers in Action

More drills on the field as campers looked at how to improve everything from bat speed to foot placement in the infield and outfield to pitchers using their best pitches and complementing with “chase pitches.”
