If you’ve followed Line Drive Softball over the last year, you’ve seen the name Grace White more than a few times.
Grace has been a consistently strong writer for us and we’re excited today to introduce her in a new role with Line Drive—she’ll oversee Social Media and Marketing and continue in her role in editorial as well.
Here are just a handful of the articles she’s written for us:
Grace has been a part of an enthusiastic sports family her whole life.
She started playing rec league when she was four years old and transitioned to travel ball around the age of 12. Her freshman year of high school she started at first base and helped Waverly Central High (Waverly, Tenn.) to a third-place finish in the TSSAA state tournament.
For her high school career, she hit .400 with 153 hits, 123 RBIs, and a .511 on-base percentage.
Grace went on to play at the collegiate level at Union University, a Division II school and member of the Gulf South Conference. She started as a freshman there as well, earning GSC Freshman of the Week once before the COVID pandemic shortened the season.
For her college career, she hit .301 with 104 hits, 62 RBIs, and a .394 on-base percentage. She also earned the GSC Champion Scholar award for softball in 2022 and 2023.
While at Union, Grace majored in journalism and served as the Sports Editor for the school’s award-winning student publication Cardinal & Cream from 2021-2023. In 2022, she also started writing for Line Drive Softball’s Brentt Eads and formed a connection that has been influential over the years.
Since graduating from Union in 2023, she has worked as a graduate assistant for Union’s sports communications department as she looks to complete her Master’s degree in just a few months.
Grace has also been working on her own blog Grace Under Fire and its social media pages in her spare time, and she has been giving hitting and fielding lessons to younger softball players in her community.
She is also the oldest of three sisters who all have ties to the softball world.
Grace’s middle sister Esther is a freshman at the University of Georgia this season after playing for many years under travel coaches Jay Ross and Tommy Bain. Grace had the pleasure of traveling with Esther to several of her tournaments recently including the Sparkler and PGF Nationals.
The younger sister, Abigail, is a junior in high school this year and is continuing the family tradition of playing for the Waverly Central Lady Tigers. She also played travel ball when she was younger.
Grace’s dad Scott has been a constant source of support for his daughters and their dreams, aspirations, and goals. He has traveled thousands of miles and watched hundreds of games over the last 19 years, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
Grace is excited to bring the skills and knowledge that she has accumulated over the years to Line Drive and to continue to be part of the softball community that has always loved her and her family so well!
