NFCA Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll

Undefeated Tennessee Secures Hold on No. 1 in 2026 NFCA/GoRout DI Top 25 Coaches Poll

Tennessee continued its perfect start to the season and is No. 1 for the second straight week in the 2026 NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Lady Vols (14-0) collected all but three first-place votes and 768 points after a 4-0 showing at UAB’s Green and Gold Classic.

Tennessee continued to roll both in the circle and at the plate, outscoring the opposition 113-5 in its first 14 contests.

This past weekend Lady Vol pitchers twirled three more shutouts, bringing their season total to nine, and allowed just one run and seven hits over the course of four games. Sage Mardjetko tossed her first career no-hitter with 12 strikeouts and one walk in a five-inning win over Southern Illinois. The bats produced 37 runs with 43 base hits and seven long balls.

No. 2 Texas Tech, No. 3 Texas and No. 4 Florida remained in their respective spots for another week going a combined 17-0. The Red Raiders (16-1) and the Longhorns (14-1) both went 5-0 at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic and DeMarini Invitational (Stanford), respectively. Texas Tech posted three shutouts, while Texas is riding a 12-game winning streak after it posted a pair of 12-2 wins over then-No. 15 Arizona and a 4-3 triumph over the host and then-No. 12 Cardinal, 4-3.

The Gators (19-0), off to their best start since 2016, topped then-RV North Florida in a home-and-home before dominating the Gator Classic with four run-rule wins and three shutouts.

New to the top five is the third undefeated team in the top 5, Alabama. The Crimson Tide (13-0) went 5-0 last week, which included two wins in Tallahassee, Fla. against then-No. 6 Florida State. The Seminoles (12-4) dipped four positions to No. 10.

Oklahoma dropped a spot to No. 6 following a 5-1 outing at the Mary Nutter, while No. 7 Arkansas ran its win streak to 11 games, opening its home campaign with three victories over Northwestern and two against Southeast Missouri State.

Moving up one spot apiece, No. 8 UCLA and No. 9 Nebraska turned in solid weekends in Cathedral City, going a combined 11-0. The Bruins (13-3) knocked off then No. 11 Texas A&M, then-No. 13 South Carolina and then-No. 20 Duke, along with a 23-1 victory over RV Auburn.

The Huskers (11-4) also defeated the Aggies and Gamecocks and registered three shutouts against Hawaii, Seattle and Cal.

Making a significant jump in the poll is No 11 Virginia Tech. The Hokies (11-2) improved six spots after two 9-3 wins at then-No. 16 Georgia during a 4-0 weekend at the Georgia Classic.

Grand Canyon is the fourth undefeated program in the top 25. The Lopes have rattled off 16 wins to start 2026 and come in at No. 22. It is three positions higher than last year’s No. 25 ranking, the first in program history.

Dropping out this week is then-No. 25 Ole Miss (11-5).

The 2026 NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll is voted on by 31 NCAA Division I head coaches with one representing each of the NCAA’s Division I Conferences. Records reflect games played through Feb. 22.

NFCA Division I Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week

North Carolina’s Emily LeGette and Belmont’s Maya Johnson were named Division I Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week honors for contests played Feb. 16-22. It marked the second honor for Johnson in the last three weeks.

LeGette powered undefeated North Carolina (14-0) to six more wins last week, launching five home runs, including two in one inning against North Carolina Central on Feb. 19. For the week, the junior batted .611 with three doubles, 14 RBI and nine runs scored.

She registered a .706 on-base percentage and slugged 1.000. Against the Eagles, LeGette clubbed a solo home run and grand slam in an eight-run third inning, and finished the contest with six RBI. She also left the yard twice and drove in four runs against Appalachian State.

Johnson was stellar in her two starts last week, twirling a pair of complete-game one hitters, including a shutout of previously unbeaten and then-No. 14 Mississippi State. She struck out 25 batters, walked one and held her opponents to a .047 batting average.

Against the Bulldogs, Johnson fanned 13, allowed just a fourth-inning single, did not issue a walk and hit one batter. It marked her second road win against a ranked SEC opponent this season, earning a complete-game victory over Georgia in Athens. She also struck out 12 and did not walk a batter in a 3-1 triumph over Samford.

The awards are voted on by the NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll Committee, which features one member coach from each of the NCAA’s 31 conferences.

NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll

Cal State San Marcos New No. 1 in 2026 NFCA/GoRout DII Top 25 Coaches Poll

For the first time in program history, Cal State San Marcos holds the No. 1 spot in the NFCA/GoRout Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll. Combined with the Cougar’s 12-1 start and previous-No.1 Auburn University at Montgomery suffering its first two losses of the season, San Marcos moved into the poll position.

The Cougars, who did not play last week, are riding a 10-game winning streak with the pitching staff playing a pivotal role in the early-season success. San Marcos hurlers have posted a 0.83 ERA, recorded five shutouts and not surrendered more than three runs in a contest. The offense has also stepped up, scoring six or more runs in 10 games.

Cal State East Bay, also idle last week, improved to No. 2. The 14-1 Pioneers have won 13 straight and take on No. 16 Concordia on Wednesday (Feb. 25) before heading to the West Region Crossover, which also includes the top-ranked Cougars.

Moving into the No. 3 position is West Texas A&M (15-4), who split with then-No. 15 Oklahoma Christian and swept Cameron in Lone Star Conference (LSC) action. AUM dipped to No. 4 after it dropped two-of-three at home to West Alabama in the Gulf South Conference’s opening weekend.

A pair of Southeast Region programs come in next as a red-hot North Georgia (13-2) is on a 12-game game win streak and moved into the fifth spot, while Francis Marion (12-3) stayed put at No.6.

No. 7 West Florida catapulted into the top 10 from No. 12. The Argos (14-2) swept Christian Brothers in Gulf South action. No. 8 Angelo State (15-4), No. 9 Missouri Southern (17-3) and No. 10 Southern Arkansas (15-2) make up the rest of the top ten.

UIndy, off to a 10-0 start, rose to No. 11, while Saint Leo (10-2-1) also climbed several spots to No. 15 after a three-game sweep of then-No. 4 Tampa in its first Sunshine State Conference series of 2026. The Spartans (4-5) dropped out of the poll.

Three programs – No. 21 Carson-Newman (13-1), No. 23 Pittsburg State (17-0) and No. 24 University of Alabama in Huntsville (17-3) – made their way into the top 25 after receiving votes last week.

In addition to Tampa, Kutztown (3-3) and Montevallo (12-3) also dropped out of the top 25.

The 2026 NFCA/GoRout Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll is voted on by the NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll Committee. The committee consists of 16 NCAA Division II head coaches with two representing each of the NCAA’s eight regions.
