In case you missed it yesterday, news broke over the weekend that Patty Gasso and the Oklahoma Sooners have added an experienced pitcher to the defending four-time National Championship roster.
Sam Landry, who went 24-10 for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns this year, made it official when she changed her Twitter photo to herself in an OU uniform with the following post:

The experienced pitcher also had 165 strikeouts in 194 innings and was named 1st Team All-Sun Belt this year and made the Sun Belt Championship Team.
Prior to signing with Louisiana, the 2022 high school grad was a star high school player at Barbers Hill High (Mt. Belvieu, Texas) and went 17-1 with a 0.40 ERA as a senior with 252 strikeouts in 121 innings to earn 5A All-State honors and lead her team to a state title.
At the travel ball level, she competed for the Hotshots – Dumezich team and I ranked her at No. 4 in the 2021 player rankings… here’s what her bio looked like:
T-4—Samantha Landry, P/1B, Hotshots – Dumezich (Louisiana-Lafayette)
Sam has shown she can pitch against anyone at any time and be successful. She was the key hurler this summer for Coach Mel Dumezich with an ERA around 2.00 and 170 strikeouts against elite competition including a stellar performance at ASA 18U Nationals this summer where she beat the Tampa Mustangs – TJ and Corona Angels – Tyson powerhouses on the same day, helping the Hotshots take 2nd overall. Sam also pitched both games in the TFL championship to rally her team to the title game where the Hotshots took the inaugural trophy. Sam is a flame-thrower who has been clocked as high as 67-68 mph which is complemented by a devasting change-up.
As noted on the OU Daily website, this gives OU five players in from the transfer portal while three have left:
