College Honors: Asmondy, Poston Capture 2025 Louisville Slugger/Wilson DII Weekly Honors (Feb. 26, 2025)

Trevecca Nazarene’s Brianna Asmondy and Francis Marion’s Alyssa Poston captured the Division II Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week honors for contests played Feb. 17-23.

Player of the Week: Brianna Asmondy (Trevecca Nazarene)

Asmondy made her hits count, as all five of them left the yard, as 12th-ranked Trevecca Nazarene collected Gulf South series win at Valdosta State, marking the program’s first-ever conference victory and series win.

She batted .556 (5-for-9) with 10 RBI, five runs scored and a 2.222 slugging percentage. Asmondy, who also walked once and was hit twice, recorded a .667 on-base percentage. She highlighted the weekend with a three-home run, six-RBI performance in game two.

Pitcher of the Week: Alyssa Poston (Francis Marion)

Poston went 3-0 with a 0.35 ERA and 14 strikeouts to one walk in 20 innings of work. She went the distance twice, which included a two-hit shutout of Wingate. Poston fanned seven and did not issue a walk in the win against the Bulldogs. The junior southpaw twirled six shutout innings in an 8-0 triumph over then-No. 19 Lenoir-Rhyne. In that start, Poston allowed three hits, struck out five and did not walk a batter.

The awards are voted on by the NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll Committee, which features two member coaches from each of the NCAA’s eight regions.

  • Laura Giford, Frostburg State– .625, 8 H, 2 HR, 3 2B, 7 R, 4 RBI, 2 BB, 2 SB, 1.308 SLG; 
  • Greenlee Wells, Oklahoma Baptist– .556, 2B, 3 HR, 9 RBI, 4 R, 1.667 SLG.
