Club Team to Watch: Lionville Lightning 14U Gold… This Fall, the Keystone State Squad Made the Championship in Every Tournament It Competed In (December 20, 2025)

Noteworthy:

Lionville Lighting 14U Gold out of Exton, Pa. was the runner up finisher at USSSA Eastern State Nationals last summer and this fall the team coached by Dave Kozak made the championship in every tournament it entered.

The Lightning team played in mostly open tournaments, seeking out good competition to strengthen their team.

 

Top Results & Accomplishments:
  • USSSA Eastern Nationals Runner Up 2025
  • four championship berths this fall
  • 1st in points and 3rd in power rankings for USSSA 2025 season

Team Strengths:
  • The biggest strength of this team is hitting… the entire lineup can hit and hit when it’s most needed.
  • The team had a remarkable 210 RBIs and 279 runs scored in their summer 2025 season.
  • This fall, the squad had a .321 batting average with 158 runs scored in four tournaments.
  • The Lightning also have three quality pitchers who had a combined ERA of 1.86 and .268 BAA.
Hana Lang was the MVP of the USSSA 13U Easter Nationals in July.
Notable Players on Team:
  • Hana Lang: USSSA Eastern Nationals MVP in July 2025 as she pitched and hit her team to a tourney runner-up finish.
  • Ella Kozak: 2030 lefty first baseman batted .442 with a 1.071 OPS. She is also an accomplished Jr. Olympic swimmer who lifeguards and gives swimming lessons to younger athletes.
  • Ava Petchkofski: USSSA Eastern Nationals Offensive MVP (2025) and USSSA All American. Lefty leadoff infielder and pitcher who had a 0.50 ERA in the fall.

  • The core of this team has played together since the players were eight years old.
  • Many of the players play other sports yet continue to excel at softball.
  • Per Coach Kozak: “They are all invested, putting extra work at lessons. “
  • They continue to keep their grades up (3.5 to 4.0 plus GPAs). and “are leaders both on and off the field.”
