Here’s how they answered:
*****
Ivy Adams (per her mom, Veronica Rojero), 2031, P/1B, Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier 2031-Tennyson/Brooksville Elementary, FL:
“She would like to attend another Gators’ camp and LSU camp. She said she would like to learn more advanced footwork. She wants to understand what the coaches are looking for and she would like to ask the pitchers what it was like to pitch in the (Women’s College) World Series. Her goal is to come out a better athlete than she went in.”
Brooklyn Ainsworth, 2028, RHP/OF, Lady Magic Munoz-Asia/Buchanan High, CA:
“My goal at upcoming college camps is to represent my organization, Lady Magic, well by showcasing my best talents and athleticism. At camps this year, I want to learn what colleges might be a good fit for me and I am hoping to achieve a good relationship with coaches. I hope to get good constructive criticism so I have an idea of what I need to improve on in the future. My plans are to attend the upcoming camp at Notre Dame this winter as well as several other camps this summer.”
Hazel Anglo, 2028, UT, Firecrackers RTY-Galicia/Gahr High, CA:
“My goal at college softball camps is to showcase my skill and to learn how I can learn from others to compete at the college level. I’m focusing on understanding the coaching styles of the programs and to get as much feedback from the coaches to make me a better athlete mentally and physically. This year, I’m planning to attend a camp at San Louis Obispo that can match my academic and athletic skills. In the future I plan on attending camps of Arizona, San Diego and Oregon.”
Abigail “Abby” Atkinson, 2027, RHP, Texas Glory 16U/Boyd High, TX:
“My goal at college softball camps is to see the program and have some one-on-one connection with coaches while also gaining some knowledge on how to improve my pitching. I’m trying to learn how to take my pitching to the next level and be prepared for what comes next. I’m planning to attend camps at Tennessee, Stanford, Texas A&M, (North Carolina) and Mississippi State.”
Maddy Benzler, LTG Lions 2029-Buck/O’Hara Park Middle School, CA:
“My goal at softball college camps is to work hard, try to talk to the coaches and get to know them. I’m trying to get a little better than I was before I came and learn things I can improve on. I’m planning to attend Texas, Florida State, Tennessee, LSU and Duke’s softball camps.”
Keira Bertoglio, 2028, RHP/MIF/1B, EC Bullets-Elis/Cornett/Loudon County High, VA:
“I always try to learn more about the game, try to improve my game and bring home some drills and things to work on. But, really, the big thing for me with a camp is to find out if a school and its softball program is a place where I can see myself spending four years. I am still not sure exactly what I am looking for, but I have seen some schools I have liked and a couple that I didn’t feel were right for me. I have so much love and respect for my current teammates and how hard they all work. I want to be sure I can experience that wherever I go. So getting time with the coaches and players is probably the most important thing for me. I like camps where the players give us a campus tour. I learn a lot by getting off the field with the players. I’m planning to attend camps at Elon, Emory, (North Carolina) and Northwestern and I’d love to go back to (Virginia), Lehigh and Virginia Tech.”
Paige Betterman, 2027, RHP/1B, Santa Fe Inferno 09-Donalson/Bishop Verot High, FL:
“My biggest goal at camp is to learn new things from the coaching staff and especially the pitching coach. I am also trying to understand the culture of the program and see if I think I would be a good fit for that environment. Some of the camps I plan to attend this winter are Stanford and Northwestern along with a few local schools in Florida.”
