Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them? My travel team “The Tampa Mustangs,” is an amazing organization out of Tampa, FL. I became involved with them with the rest of my teammates a few years ago after my teammates and I transitioned from Birmingham Thunderbolts.
Tell us about your experience at PGF/Alliance Nationals? I have yet to compete in Alliance Nationals, however, I have competed in two PGF Nationals. The first time I competed in this tournament was with the Mustangs and we ended up winning 1st place in the 14U Platinum division! The second time around we did not place as high, but we did amazing with the talent on our (team) at the time with a fresh team!
Can you tell us about your experience with Team Puerto Rico? My experience with Team PR has been amazing. It has brought me so many blessings from traveling all the way to making many new friendships. The exposure that I have gotten from playing with Team PR has also been amazing and such a blessing.
What makes players from the state of Florida special? I would say the fact that we play year-round we are always able to put in the work and get better.
What was your highlight of the fall? What have you been focusing on this offseason? My highlight of the fall was being able to see all my teammates after months of not seeing them.
Which player/team has been your toughest opponent and why? My toughest opponent would probably be Mackenzie Duncan, who pitches for Horizon High. She has crazy spin and velocity on her ball and she’s going to Penn State University.
What have you faced/overcome in life that has made you the person you are today? When I was growing up, I always felt like I wasn’t good enough, which made me lose confidence and hold back from trying new things. Little by little, I pushed myself to speak up more and take on challenges, learning that mistakes are just part of getting better. Now, I’m more confident and focus on improving instead of worrying about being perfect.
Do you have any family members/siblings that are athletes? Orlando Boyer, dad, baseball; and Christina Boyer, sister, softball.
What are you looking for in a future college? I’m looking for a family-like environment, a good area to live and good education.
What college camps are you planning to attend and why? In the summer, I plan on returning to Clemson and UNC because I have been there before and I fell in love with the campus’ and coaches.
What areas are you interested in future occupations and why? I would like do to something in sports management. I’m interested in sports management because I’m passionate about sports and love the idea of being involved behind the scenes. I enjoy planning, organizing and making sure everything runs smoothly and I want to help athletes and teams reach their full potential. Plus, combining my love for sports with management skills sounds like the perfect way to turn my passion into a career.
What’s your favorite subject to study in school and why? Any type of science because I’m super interested in biology.
Who is your sports hero and why? My sports hero is (tennis legend) Serena Williams because she’s been crushing it in tennis for over 20 years, winning more Grand Slam titles than anyone else in the modern era. She broke barriers as a black woman in a mostly white sport and never let setbacks like injuries or criticism stop her. On top of that, she speaks out for equality and body positivity, inspiring tons of people to be confident and go after their dreams.
What’s your favorite book to read and why? Anything “Harry Potter” (by JK Rowling) because I am a nerd.
What’s the best hype song and why? I would have to say “Again” by Fetty Wap.
What’s your favorite TV show to binge and why? “How I Met Your Mother.” It’s a sappy rom-com and I love rom-coms.
What’s your favorite movie and why? “The Notebook” because again it’s a rom-com, my favorite.
Do you have a secret talent/skill? I can sing!!!
