Sisters Blayne and Brityan Godfrey grew up in tragedy, but have risen to become two of the top softball prospects in the country.
The Alabama natives lost their parents in a domestic violence situation in 2010 that ended with their parents dying in a murder-suicide.
“My parents passed away from murder and suicide,” Brit Godfrey said. “Thankfully enough, my sister and I were brought in by our grandparents who took legal guardianship of us.”
Their grandparents, Emilie and Earl Williams, have raised them ever since.
“They have been amazing to my sister and I,” Blayne Godfrey said of her grandparents. “They have provided me with everything I’ve ever needed, sacrificed their time and they’ve always shown up to support me in whatever I set out to do.”
The Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier superstars — 2024 RHP/1B Blayne Godfrey and 2025 C/1B Brit Godfrey — both committed to Auburn.
“Brit and I have grown closer and closer the older we have gotten,” Blayne said. “We are the only ones that understand exactly what we have been through. Softball has strengthened our bond, especially, being pitcher and catcher.”
The sisters share a unique bond on and off the field.
“The relationship I share with my sister is a bond that will never get old,” Brit said. “We have been through quite literally everything together and somehow we always end up on top. She knows me better than anyone and has anyways been there for me.”
