Club News: Midwest Speed-Wagner Upsets Impact Gold-Jazz in Super Regional Final at AFCS (July 25, 2024)

The Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series (AFCS) is being held all week in Kokomo, IN (All rankings are Line Drive Hot 50 Club National Rankings):

In 16U Tier 1 Super Regionals:

Midwest Speed National-Wagner, a first-year 16U team, came out of the loser’s bracket, won three consecutive games, beating #4 Impact Gold-Jazz twice, 6-3 and 3-0, to win the Super Regional #1 final and qualify for the Elite 8.

“I’m really proud of how our kids played hard each pitch — superb focus and energy all day,” Speed coach Nat Wagner said. “They are having fun and playing with a quiet confidence earned through a lot of hard work this year. It’s a blessing to share the field with this softball family for at least one more day!” …

2026 SS/OF Jordyn Booe, 2026 C Madison Smith and Angelo State-committed 2025 P/1B Maddison Ruiz homered to give Texas Unity-Smith a 4-3 win over Unity-Slezak in the Super Regional #5 final.

“Today’s win was huge, this whole week was huge for us,” Texas Unity coach Gary Smith said. “We came with (seven) 2025s, (six) 2026 and (one) 2027 that all had a chip on their shoulder. Alliance gave them the opportunity to earn our status on about the most even playing field possible. Making the Elite 8 solidifies we not only belong among the top, but we can compete with anyone in the nation on any given day.” …

Turnin2-Pezz/King bounced back after a 6-3 loss to beat Firecrackers Select-Brashear, 3-2, in the “IF” game to win the Super Regional #3 final and qualify for the Elite 8.

“Big win for this group of kids and for T2,” Turnin2 coach Ron Pezzoni said.”(Three) great games … Three dogfights. Fun games to be a part of!!!” …

2026 RHP Madelyn Doty allowed two hits, one run and struck out nine in seven innings and 2026 1B/3B/UT Kennedy Bradley went 2 for 3 with two RBIs as #20 Texas Glory-Shelton defeated Impact Gold-Vaughn/Jazz, 4-1, in the Super Regional #2 final. …

2026 OF Josie Busceme went 3 for 4 with a run as #31 Texas Bombers Gold-Serie beat #30 Louisville Lady Sluggers-Huecker/Norwood, 3-1, in the Super Regional #4 final.

“(It was a) huge win for our girls against a very solid Louisville Lady Slugger team,” Bombers coach Dale Serie said. “Their pitcher may have been the best arm we faced this summer. Our girls competed hard and executed the small ball when we needed to push across a couple of runs. (2026 P) Jordyn Thibodeaux and (2026 P) Riese Flood combined (on) a no-hitter going into the 6th and (LSU-committed 2025 P) Cali Deal closed the game out. Great team win.” …

After losing to ai Bandits-Breer, 8-6, in the first game, Abigail Byrd threw three scoreless and hitless innings with two strikeouts to lead Louisville Lady Sluggers-Wathen to a 4-3 victory in the “IF” game to win the Super Regional #8 final.

“(I’m) really proud of how our kids responded today,” Sluggers coach Shannon Wathen said. “Playing a team three times in a row is really tough, much less beating them three times. We knew the Bandits would come out tough this afternoon after losing to us last night. We really showed some resilience today. We had to fight and dig deep today and I’m proud our kids responded.” …

Texas Glory 2025 came out of the loser’s bracket and beat Ohio Outlaws National-Shepherd/Abraham twice, 5-3 and 9-0, to win the Super Regional #6 final and reach the Elite 8. Houston Christian-committed 2025 C/UT Chloe Phe went 3 for 3 with a run and three RBIs for Texas Glory in the “IF” game. …

Oklahoma Athletics National-Madden/Brown bounced back after a 7-3 loss to beat #10 Aces Fastpitch Club, 6-2, in the “IF” game to win the Super Regional #7 final and qualify for the Elite 8. …

In 18U Super Regionals:

Epic National-Smith came out of the loser’s bracket, won three straight games and beat Extreme Elite National twice, 9-4 and 2-1, to win the Super Regional #6 final to reach the Elite 8.

North Texas-committed 2025 C/3B Jaley James delivered a walk-off, RBI double in the bottom of the 7th inning to give Epic National-Smith the win over Extreme Elite National in the “IF” game. …

2026 OF Kial’e Tindal had an RBI single and 2027 3B/C Riley Hilliard connected on a grand slam in the top of the 7th inning to give #1 OC Batbusters-Stith, the two-time defending Alliance national champion a 7-2 victory over Bombers Gold-Jacoby in the Super Regional #1 final.

“(Grinded) out a win vs. a very tough Bombers-Jacoby team,” Batbusters coach Mike Stith said. “Riley Hilliard with a game-tying double in the 5th and a grand slam in the 7th led the Batbusters. (Indiana-bound RHP) Jenae Berry was great in the circle for the complete game win.” …

Central Florida-bound C/1B Beth Damon went 2 for 2 with six RBIs and Missouri-committed 2025 3B  Addy Waits, Missouri-committed 2025 1B/OF Sidney Forrester and Oklahoma-committed MIF/3B Lexi McDaniel had three hits apiece as #7 Aces Fastpitch Club picked up a 17-9 win over Tampa Mustangs-Rene in the Super Regional #2 final.

“(We were) down 9-0 in the 1st, scored six in the (bottom of the) 1st with 17 unanswered,” Aces coach Ryan Taylor said, “Wow!” …

Arkansas-bound RHP Cameryn Harrison, the Texas Gatorade State Player of the Year, allowed one hit and one run with eight strikeouts in seven innings to help #16 Impact Gold-Jackson beat OC Batbusters-Stith/Maroon, 6-1, in the Super Regional #7 final. …

#6 Texas Bombers Gold-Smith came out of the loser’s bracket, won three consecutive games, beating OC Batbusters-Stith/Black twice, 12-2 and 1-0, to win the Super Regional #3 final and qualify for the Elite 8. …

Corona Angels-Tyson were the first to qualify for the Elite 8 by beating OC Batbusters-Lara, 9-1. …

Kentucky-bound RHP Carson Fall allowed one hit, no earned runs and struck out four in seven innings to get the win and Missouri-bound 1B/3B Saniya Hill homered to lift #9 Texas Glory to a 4-1 win over Firecrackers Brashear in the Super Regional #4 final. …

Oklahoma-bound CF Chaney Helton went 1 for 2 with a run and two RBIs as #24 Iowa Premier National-Dickel defeated #21 Fury Platinum X-Higdon, 5-4, in the Super Regional #8 final. …
