Day 2 Space Coast USSSA Select 30:

I woke up at 6 a.m. and had breakfast, then headed to the field to be there by 7:45 a.m. to meet up with my teammates. But, first, I had to take in the amazing Space Coast facilities, all turf fields! I have never been to a facility where I had to watch out for snakes and gators! We don’t have gators in Tennessee! HaHa.

Once our day started, we got to tour the USSSA Pride locker room. The locker room is huge! We spent part of the day in a NCSA recruiting class where we talked about how to be successful in your sport.

We also dove into recruiting tips for sophomores. Being in 7th grade, I still (a) few years before I get into my recruiting journey, but the information was extremely useful. The message to start early with your recruiting and understanding the process is key. Some takeaways:

  • You need a 2.3 GPA across 16 core courses.
  • SAT/ACT scores still matter, but there are more opportunities for scholarships.
  • Building an online presence is crucial: camp highlights, stats and social media can either help or hurt your recruiting journey.
  • Coaches want to see who you are on and off the field, so keep a clean and positive online image.
